On the road again

If looks could kill...

Oooh! I know where Randsburg is! If you drive out to Mojave, and then keep going, eventually you'll go by the exit to California City. Don't take it. Keep going. I think there's a sign POINTING to Randsburg. Turn right. Slow down, so you don't miss it. Go to the general store & order a milkshake. You will not be disappointed. YUM YUM YUM. (My husband love old mines & mining towns, and I love milkshakes. Randsburg was a great place for us.)

I was reminded of something today that I wish I'd remembered to mention during the "Halloween traffic" discussion -- last year "they" moved the changeover days for daylight savings time
So darkness-related traffic insanity will start on November 2 this year not Halloween!

Wow, you photoshopped that Booty on Board bumper sticker, didn't you? You have awesome photoshop skilz. I learned all I know from "You Suck at Photoshop," and he's right on the money when it comes to my sad skilz.

I really expected to see faux testicles hanging from the trailer hitch on that pickup...!
I imagine Bob has long since been divested of his. And he's still sexy!!

Hey Laurie. I saw a funny one a couple months ago that I thought you might find funny. I posted it over on my blog at http://ninepoems.com/2008/07/27/recap-post-1-of-7-the-4th-of-july/
Being that I'm in the process of getting divorced myself, I especially liked it!

oooo! Could we propose Bob for President?

Randsburg is an old mining town just off 395, south of the turnoffs for Trona and Ridgecrest. If you're coming from the 14 (a logical route for someone traveling from Encino-adjacent), you'll turn right onto the Redrock Randsburg Road, just before Red Rock Canyon State Park.
If you go, you have to, have to, have to, stop at Weavers' Cottage on Sierra Highway in Canyon country. It's one of the best yarn shops I've ever been to, so friendly and down-to-earth, and with a great selection. Sierra Highway is the scenic route, and meets up again with the 14. It's totally worth the detour.

Kramer Junction used to be a good spot for milkshakes, too. (Takes a lot of milkshakes to get across that dry and lonely stretch.)

OMG.
I grew up in Ridgecrest, which is very close to Randsburg. It's more or less a ghost town, left over from the mining era. It's out in the middle of nowhere...take 395 north for a billion miles and just as you think you're going to hit the Twilight Zone, you'll find yourself in Randsburg.
If you go you'll find yourself saying "Who in the hell lives here and why?"

I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty, and absolutely LOVE it! It gets me everywhere (even some places I probably shouldn't be going . . . LOL)

Oh boy... Randsburg. That town is seared on my brain. As a child my family and I passed by on a road trip and stopped to have a picnic lunch and check the place out. We were eating at a bench in a little park area when an old lady at the next table got up, walked to a tree nearby, squatted, and peed. My parents promptly packed up the lunch and us kids and hightailed it out of there.
To this day if we even say the name "Randsburg" to my dad he gets the creepy-shivers. Thanks (I think) for bringing up the memories. :)
Oh, and its pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

Looking good, Bob-o.
And I love it that denise t is encouraging Bob to write a sit-com! (Although personally, I see him as more of a Director...)
:)

I think that sexy Bob-boy should produce, direct and STAR in a CAP written sit-com. Soba would, of course, be his foil while Frankie would be his long suffering but thoroughly in love with him girl.
