Fall has fallen!

It's officially Autumn, and Halloween is a month and a week or so away. If you're looking for a fast little orange Halloweenish project, how about the Reversible Knit Halloweenie Beanie!

Laurie, that little hat is adorable and just what my 1 year old great-nephew needs, I think! Thanks!

I'm making it as we speak for the little 6-month old baby girl that I sit for. Thank you for showing it again!

I think the hat is adorable, and i am going to make it for my friends niece. P.S. I made your cornbread and i like both sweetened & unsweetened. My favorite is the white bean chili. Have a good week & kiss the kitties for me.

Pumpkinate!!!! hooray!

This is so cute! Someday I have to try knitting again. I love the way knitted things look. I have knitted a few things, but for me it is so much more difficult than crochet. When I make a mistake in knitting, I'm totally lost and don't know what to do!

Posted by: Gayle at September 22, 2008 10:25 AM

This is really cute. It makes me wish I knitted!

I am a sucker for a pumpkin hat.

Posted by: Lillie at September 22, 2008 10:37 AM

Love it! Now I have to find some orange yarn.

Posted by: Marilyn at September 22, 2008 10:39 AM

pumpkinate! It sounds vaguely dirty...

Posted by: suetreiber at September 22, 2008 10:42 AM

That sue treiber, I would never have thought that about 'pumpkinate' but now she has pointed it out....

Cool hats for grown ups! Usually all those cute fruit, flower and animal hats are in kid sizes, and I'm too lazy to adjust them. I can't wait to make this... if only I could put the socks down.

I now have the urge to knit a pumpkin for my pumpkin head!

I made this beanie last year and it rocked! For me, being a relatively newbie knitter at the time, it got me past the hump of endless dishcloths and scarves. I gained experience with decreases, circular needles and DPN's in an easy, non-intimidating way ... and the end result was a cute beanie a dozen people tried to bribe me for! The courage/experience from making it also helped embolden me to make my dream sweater and that alone, y'all, was worth every single stitch. So thanks a gazillion Aunt Purl!

I was just thinking about that hat and its swappable stem. So cute!

Posted by: Lucia at September 22, 2008 12:12 PM

Thanks for the reminder. I'll cast one on tonight. I made one to give away last fall when you posted the recipe (oops, pattern that should be, it's lunchtime here) and it turned out GOURDgeous!

Posted by: Marilyn at September 22, 2008 01:22 PM

Now that is just too ridiculously cute. Especially the curlicue of the stem -- anerable!

Posted by: Sarah at September 22, 2008 01:35 PM

Totally cute!

Cue theme music from "Twilight Zone" - I'm really beginning to *feel* the onset of Autumn, and this morning I said to myself said I, "look up that cute punkin hat from CAP on account of there are some kids who would look good in 'em" .....and here you ARE! Thank you, for petessakes! I have picture of my grandsons in their punkin caps from last year - which, in future, they can use for mug shots if they like. Two of them look miserable and the third is wearing the Rigid Rictus of Death grin brought on by dad saying "SMILE FOR GRAMMA." Nevermind.

My friend Breanne is making one of these and you should have seen the insane way she was trying to do a k2tog tbl.

INSANITY!

Luckily, we have it all sorted out and she's nearly got her very own little punkin' hat. :)

Love the pattern, and I'll be making one this year for one of my best friend's 4-month-old son!

Thanks for the pattern!

So cute!! Is there a crochet version? (I am sorely remiss in my knitting abilities)

Posted by: tami at September 22, 2008 05:56 PM

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Will you be making one for each of the Kitty Possee? :o) I thought not.

Posted by: AlliMack at September 23, 2008 03:58 AM

I made this for a wee one not too long ago. I spoke with his Mama (she's a co-worker of mine), and she said it's just the right size for his Fall Baby Hat. So, I have pattern notes for converting this to a 3-month old baby size (in worsted weight yarn) if anyone needs them. ;)

I used the Mission Falls 1824 superwash wool in the "Squash" colorway.

It's a most awesome pattern, CAP. Thank you!

4month old nephs need a punkin hat, and was in the process of unearthing my punkin yarn (that I bought last year) when behold! you put it back on here!! I love it!!!!

love this little hat!! I made many last year for all the new babies I know. They look very cute in them too, and one for my great-nephew this year too.
I too, made the chicken and white bean chili, yummy!

Laurie,
I still have a small knit shop in New prague, MN. and I wondered if I could throw in your pumpkin hat pattern in a kit with yarn for people to purchase. If you'd like to publish it and I buy it from you that's okay too. I finished one this week and it turned out so cute. I had some Mission Falls yarn too and my 1 year old grandson got it. Let me know. bonny

Posted by: Bonny at October 1, 2008 09:30 AM

WOO-HOO - published separate pattern, CAP! - I say go for it!

I'd also pay for a pattern if it includes a licensing agreement where I can sell a few. Many of the designers on Ravelry are starting to make agreements of this sort - they usually allow 12 or so items to be made for sale. (NOTE: this is selling the finished items, NOT the pattern itself.)
