Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start....

Nothing to say on this Monday morning. There is something happening inside the ziploc, but it might be a mad mess:

And this was on TV, in case you have the urge to quit your job and run off and study something new ... try bunions!

Mondays.

what you say about your ziploc bag is what I say about my brain...

Good Monday! (bleh). I love the way your project matches your cup.

Posted by: JillieoftheValley at August 11, 2008 09:12 AM

Mondays are like that. My kitties agree.

Aren't ziploc bags the greatest? I wish I could meet Mr./Ms. Ziploc so I can kiss them right on the mouth for their wonderful invention!!

Happy Monday! (isn't that quite the oxymoron!)
Hugs, Liz

Do I spy Patons SWS?? In Geranium??

Posted by: Liz R at August 11, 2008 09:21 AM

Mad mess, indeed. I bought one this weekend (at Wal-Mart, yecch): a tangled, knotted mass of Red Heart Kooky--the lovely slubby stuff--from the clearance bin at an incredible price. I untangled it, wound it into a hank, started to knit, and now IT'S A TANGLED, KNOTTED MASS AGAIN!!

I'm about to give the whole thing to my cats as a neat new toy. Before I do that, can anyone tell me how to get the damn knots out and wind it correctly this time??

Yes, it is Monday.

Another weekend note: I was cleaning up my mother-in-law's house (she's unfortunately rotting away of Alzheimer's in a nursing home and hasn't recognized any of us in years) and discovered her knitting stuff. I took possession of a huge roll of needles and the best of her stash--yarn my husband and I both recognized as leftovers from things she'd knitted for us. Sad, but sweet. At least it's in good hands now!

A tangled mess of SWS? It must be Monday.

What a pretty zip lock bag. My zip lock bags are so plain and non exciting.

Posted by: Catherine at August 11, 2008 09:45 AM

Trade Mondays with me? Please?

Posted by: Karen at August 11, 2008 10:09 AM

and thanks for putting *that* little ditty in my brain for the whole day! ;D

Posted by: Cynthia at August 11, 2008 10:11 AM

Bunions?? Really?? I'd like to meet the person who was sitting around and saying "You know what we really need to know more about? Bunions! We should really look into that." Happy monday!

That yarn reminds me of my hair at this moment. I was a total slob this weekend and havent washed my hair since friday. (sick over the weekend)

I feel like Bob looked in the last picture posted of him.

Posted by: ErinLindsey at August 11, 2008 10:21 AM

What a funny study, CAP:) Do you think that's B-Union, uh, like "Be" Union? or bee union (bee re-union???) Maybe they mean bun-ion....My brain needs a Monday rest like Bob's Friday pix from plsying with words; it's all tangled like your yarn:)

I like how they tried to make the font look all interesting and hip, as if it might help.

Kinnexa - try winding it around a cardboard tube, like from a roll of paper towels.

Ugh with the Mondays.

Posted by: Chris in MN at August 11, 2008 11:34 AM

Thanks, Laurie. I thought it was just me.

I woke up to NO INTERNETS!!!

Now I'm having to use someone else's computer.

I HATE MONDAYS.

I don't get the jokes. Monday indeed.

Posted by: Marilyn at August 11, 2008 12:36 PM

Okay, now I've got that stupid song stuck in my head. Nothing against Julie Andrews, but...arghhhh!

Posted by: quinn at August 11, 2008 01:02 PM

Okay, I didn't get where the post title came from until I went through the comments, and now the song is stuck in my head too!

Posted by: Gayle at August 11, 2008 01:18 PM

Oooh! Have you been assockilated?

For do-re-mi I prefer Homer Simpson's take:

Do, the stuff that buys my beer,
Re, the guy who sells the beer,
Mi, the guy who drinks the beer,
Fa, a long way to my beer,
So... I think I'll have a beer,
La la la la la la beer,
Ti? No, thanks, I'll have a beer,
So let me get out my...

(repeat until no longer able to remember words)

Happy Monday! Still one week of my vacation to go, not that I am rubbing it in or anything.

make it stop!!
ahhhhhhhh!

Posted by: suetreiber at August 11, 2008 02:03 PM

My brain is so dead today that i didn't even see the Sound Of Music reference. What do you do with a problem like Maria?

Posted by: Liz R at August 11, 2008 02:18 PM

I knew I should have studied bunions rather than getting this useless English degree!

Posted by: Neil at August 11, 2008 03:50 PM

Oh, my sister had her bunion-ectomies too early! And she needs a way to supplement her household income. Who knew that those grunions (dubbed so by the podiatrist who removed them) could have been money makers?

From now on, my family members make no major life decisions without consulting Crazy Aunt Purl!

Posted by: Nancy at August 11, 2008 04:11 PM

Funny. I thought I was the only one who carried projects around in a ziploc. AND I have bunions! Weird, no? heehee Btw, bunions are painful little buggers. I can't wear any cool shoes anymore. So sad.

Posted by: Lorraine at August 11, 2008 04:29 PM

Hi Laurie,

I was wondering where you got that pretty ziploc bag from? I have never seen one with flowers on it like that one. Thanks!

Posted by: Faith at August 11, 2008 06:20 PM

You have too many points sticking out of the bag for a scarf. Hat?

I started biking to work. It puts a damper on knitting during the comute, lemme tell ya.

I hope Tuesday brings you less mad mess.

Posted by: Mary at August 11, 2008 08:24 PM

I just bought and read your book tonight. I couldn't put it down. I loved it! I hope you write another.

Posted by: Dani at August 11, 2008 09:00 PM

Oh, honey...its way too early for that happy Von Trap crap. Neeeeed coffeeeee....

Yay! Yarn in a ziplock! In my home that is a sign of a WIP.

Posted by: jessica~ at August 12, 2008 05:02 AM

rb, misscat, et al. I didn't get the joke - can you enlighten my befuddled mind?

Posted by: alli at August 12, 2008 05:55 AM

Oy. Now I just have this incredible urge to run home and watch The Sound of Music! And now all the songs are running through my head. Thanks a lot.

For the person with knotty yarn, I would try either a toilet paper tube on your ball winder's spindle or just wrap some paper around it and tape it, then wind your yarn. That will give the center of your ball something to "hold on" to rather than tangling itself into knots. It's worth a try.

Posted by: Anne at August 12, 2008 07:30 AM

Thanks for the suggestions on how to untangle my mad mess! Next question: how do I get all the knots and snags out so I can start winding it? (At this point it really does look like a *huge* hairball freshly hacked up...)

Posted by: Kinnexa at August 12, 2008 08:56 AM

Hi Alli,

Just read it out loud as written. Using a southern accent helps.

Posted by: rb at August 12, 2008 04:19 PM

Now see -- only our CAP would have cool looking ZIPLOCKS, for petessakes! I mean, how cool is THAT??

Posted by: dale-harriet in WI at August 12, 2008 09:21 PM

Alli,

With southern accent...

CM ducks (See them ducks)
MR not (them are not)
OSAR (Oh yes they are!)
CM wangs (See them wings)
LIB (Well I'll be!)
MR ducks (Them are ducks)

****
M R 2 spiders (Them are too spiders)

C L M legs? (See all them legs?)

C M B D eyes? (See them beadie eyes)

Y I B (Why I'll be!)

Hope that cleared it up.
