i think bob needs a belly rub

Pan and Harold hate shoes, too. "Your feet! Are loud! Must Run!"

Bob is so cute, even if he is ... um, courage-challenged.

Posted by: ccr in MA at April 10, 2008 09:16 AM

I just lurve pictures of your cats.

Fred is afraid of plastic bags--any kind, any size--and Harry was afraid of cooked spaghetti strands. You wonder where these little neuroses come from!

Posted by: christa at April 10, 2008 09:21 AM

Such a handsome Bob. Cats are more entertaining than TV.

Posted by: nifer at April 10, 2008 09:23 AM

I'm still impressed with how great your floors look!

Posted by: k8 at April 10, 2008 09:31 AM

Hahahaha! This came at the perfect time this morning. Hang in there, Bob! We feel your pain!
Thanks for posting, Laurie. :)

Posted by: Trope at April 10, 2008 09:37 AM

Bob is so beautiful. Thanks for posting pics of the cats!

My cats hate plastic bags-- grocery, trash, or otherwise. I get the impression from their expressions of hatred and loathing that the sound of plastic bags to them is the equivalent of fingernails on a blackboard to me.

My main comment, however, is about your floors-- they came out beautifully! I admire you for taking that on and doing such a great job :)

Posted by: Granola Girl at April 10, 2008 09:48 AM

I love me that Bob.

Posted by: Jenn at April 10, 2008 09:48 AM

Bob and those floors are fabulous. I still am amazed at how you took on ripping out the old rug and bringing up the shine on the wood! And Bob...what a thick soft fur he's got. Hmm...summer is coming, does he have a sun suit?

Posted by: cecelia at April 10, 2008 09:54 AM

I still love you wood floors! and your cats too.

Posted by: Kel at April 10, 2008 10:09 AM

Cute Bob !!!!!!!

Posted by: Jena at April 10, 2008 10:12 AM

Ella the Wonder Dog is afraid of the kitchen floor. Not just my kitchen floor, either, but ANYONE's kitchen floor.
I could not make this up. Pets -- who'd be without them?

Posted by: Julie at April 10, 2008 10:17 AM

Yay, I love me some Bob pictures! It's grey and icky here, so he's like a little tan ray of sunshine!

Posted by: Amy in StL at April 10, 2008 10:33 AM

Bob is such a cutie!

Also, FANTASTIC use of the word "unenviable" on your copyright post :) Such an unpleasant topic, but you worded it so well..

Posted by: e. at April 10, 2008 10:34 AM

Bob is the cutest thing ever. But I think there's one thing he's scared of that you haven't mentioned: COPYRIGHT INFRINGERS!!

So tell us, Laurie: who the hell has been stealing your pictures? Seriously; we're gonna round us up a posse and kick their sorry butts.

Grr.

Posted by: Leslie at April 10, 2008 10:34 AM

My cats are afraid of only certain shoe sounds. They're ok if I'm wearing sneakers but anything with hard soles (like my dress/work shoes) forget it. And they attack my slippers. Well, just Sammy but he's a few bottles short of a six pack anyway. . .

Posted by: heidi at April 10, 2008 10:34 AM

Aaaah! We love Bob!

Posted by: trashalou at April 10, 2008 10:35 AM

My Amber was scared of loud noises like breathing, and lived almost exclusively in my bedroom, so I can understand the rarity and amazingness of a Bob-sighting during daylight hours. Skritches to His Bobness for letting himself be seen.

Posted by: Kalieris at April 10, 2008 10:47 AM

Bob's young yet. As he gets older, he'll get more mellow and just not care about air and shoes. Chip used to be skittish too, but now that he's an old man (and 20 lbs), all he worries about is food.

And I agree -- that floor does look mahvelous.

Posted by: Martha in Kansas at April 10, 2008 11:11 AM

Poor Bob, so sweet, and yet so silly...

Shoe story for you: once long ago Grant and I lived in a second-floor apartment with our two cats, Calcutta and Heidi. Calcutta was a sweetie, but petrified of people she didn't know. One day Grant had a job interview late in the day, and, normally wearing jeans and sneakers to work and not wanting his boss to know he was interviewing, he drove into work, leaving his interview suit and shoes in the car, and changed en route from work to interview. So that evening Calcutta and I were sitting in the bedroom watching TV when we heard him unlock the door and start up the stairs, and she ran to greet him, got to the head of the stairs, saw him, turned and ran at top speed back into the bedroom and hid under the bed, crying, "Mom, HELP, do something, we've been invaded by a strange man in a SUIT! And loud SHOES! HELP!"

Posted by: Lucia at April 10, 2008 11:13 AM

P.S. Speaking of silly people, how could anyone steal your stuff and imagine that it would not be instantly recognized? There is only one of you.

Posted by: Lucia at April 10, 2008 11:17 AM

He is too cute and you are too funny! Keep the cat photos coming. We love them. Sorry someone stole something from your web site. :(

Posted by: nottotaled at April 10, 2008 11:22 AM

That's a precious face!

Posted by: Nancy Knits at April 10, 2008 11:31 AM

Hi Bob! I could just run my fingers through his fluffiness. ;)

Again, gorgeous wood floor! Hubby prefers carpet, though. Dang him!

Someone mentioned plastic bags. My Teddy LOVES plastic bags. At the first sign of a rustle, his ears perk up and he has to come investigate.

Posted by: Leeny at April 10, 2008 11:40 AM

I hope Bob is not afraid of having his belly rubbed, because that belly just cries out for it.

Posted by: rb at April 10, 2008 11:49 AM

He's as Bobalicious as ever!!! Thanks for the adorable pictures and hilarious titles!! I've been singing that song in my mind (and out loud) (unfortuntely for my family) since I read it.

Who's stealing from you?? Send them over here so I can teach them a lesson Liz-style. I have a special technique that I save for people who hurt my family and friends. I learned it at Guantanamo Bay.

Posted by: Liz R at April 10, 2008 11:49 AM

Gosh, Bob is just so cute--he is adorable!

Posted by: Lesli at April 10, 2008 11:59 AM

I LOVE his chunky belly.

Posted by: Jill S. at April 10, 2008 12:08 PM

Ooohhh, white Bob-mittens and a fluffernutter belly. If I sneak up barefoot and don't breathe, would I be able to snuffle it?

Posted by: marilyn at April 10, 2008 12:13 PM

I want to squeeze him.

Posted by: suetreiber at April 10, 2008 12:13 PM

My cats are the opposite of Heidi's: mine are afraid of athletic shoes and enamored of others.

That is one snuffable belly.

Posted by: Jill of the 7 cats at April 10, 2008 12:33 PM

I've got to tell you...Bob looks like he could be my Django's brother. But Bob's got NOTHING on Django's belly size! (I just posted photos on my blog: www.garnetewe.wordpress.com)

Posted by: BalletMommy at April 10, 2008 12:47 PM

Bob is soooo cute. Need more pix of him, please! :)

BTW, I'm totally with Bob on the "what's that noise?" If only I too could hide under the bed all day and get away with it. ;)

Posted by: The Knitting Moose at April 10, 2008 12:48 PM

Shoes?!?

My little Tinker girl loves marbles (and doors and water and screens and plastic and bags and yarn and straws and cups and might possibly still be a bit of a kitten?) and puts them in our shoes to play with them since that mean old boy cat doesn't play with her.

We consider it a sign of love if she leaves them in there and you have to fish them out after working out why your shoes feel funny. Perhaps we should wake up *before* we try to leave the house........

Posted by: suzie at April 10, 2008 01:58 PM

Awwww.....
Hi Bob!

Posted by: Kelly at April 10, 2008 02:13 PM

Yeah - that floor really looks good - almost as good as Bob. You have done a nice job on both :)

And I'm really sorry somebody is stealing your images. I might have pictures of your cats to use as wallpaper occasionally on my own desktop but sure wouldn't pose them off as my own.

Posted by: Leslie in Mass at April 10, 2008 02:24 PM

I ♥ Bob.

Posted by: Carol 2 at April 10, 2008 02:41 PM

He's so cute it doesn't matter that he's afraid of air.

Posted by: Anna-Liza at April 10, 2008 02:54 PM

Bob, yer the cutest wimp I've ever seen! *smooches*

Posted by: jules at April 10, 2008 03:34 PM

Oh noes! Not the air!

LOVE the evil Sobakowa precursor air- like Darth Vader striding down the hall of the battle station...

Posted by: Sue F. at April 10, 2008 03:44 PM

"It's hard out here for a wimp."

Oh my goodness, thanks for the out-loud laughs. Now I want to see him sing it, wearing a button-down shirt and a pocket protector. Maybe he'll win an Oscar!

Posted by: Anjanette at April 10, 2008 03:51 PM

your house is so clean!

Posted by: smokeyjoe at April 10, 2008 04:03 PM

It's not only rude, it's also illegal. Speaking as a copyright/trademark attorney, I know this.

Posted by: Julie at April 10, 2008 04:05 PM

Love the Bob.

Regarding the copyright issue: bugger that you're being messed with. Certainly not to excuse anyone's rudeness, but is there something here on the blog stating that it's copyrighted? Question for Julie: I know registration is not required for copyright, but it strengthens the case, so to speak--is this correct? And at what point does something any of us puts on a blog or other public forum become public domain? What if any difference is there in application involving internet versus a more traditional medium? I guess my basic question is what can our Laurie (and the rest of us) expect and do to protect ourselves regarding our blog content?

Posted by: Tanya at April 10, 2008 05:14 PM

Thank for the pictures, they made my day!

I'm thinking the Bobsicles is trying to blend into the background in the hope that the nothing whatsoever will find him...

Posted by: Bonnie UK at April 10, 2008 05:42 PM

What's wrong with people?

Posted by: Dora NY at April 10, 2008 05:50 PM

A copyrighted item becomes public domain
1) when the creator explicitly puts it in the public domain,
2) 95 years after it was created,
or
3)70 years after the creator dies.

It's unlikely anything Laurie posts today will ever be in the public domain during the lifetime of anybody reading this blog.

Posted by: Sidney at April 10, 2008 05:52 PM

Damn. I'm sorry you're dealing with that (in the copyright post that is - not the cute kitty pictures).

Posted by: (formerly) no-blog-rachel at April 10, 2008 10:36 PM

Very nice Bob pictures. I need to take lessons from you on kitty images.

Posted by: Sharon at April 10, 2008 11:31 PM

Bob is so darn cute!!

Posted by: Jenn in IL at April 10, 2008 11:44 PM

Ooh, what an adorable sweet face Bob has! And what a belly begging for a belly rub! Our goofy cat Carmen has taken to sleeping on her back in the middle of the living room floor. Escamillo prefers one of his two Fortresses of Solitude, except at night.

Posted by: Anne at April 11, 2008 05:22 AM

I love all your kitty pictures! Love pics of all three kitty noses. Please keep posting them even tho someone has no manners and is rude.

Bob toes! Loves me the Bob Toes!

Cat story - how to get a cat that has slipped outside to tapdance on the street. Sit on the lawn, back to said cat, eating potato chips (she doesn't even LIKE chips) commenting on how good those chips are and too bad you don't have someone to share them with. She can't STAND being ignored. Pretty soon you have her scooped up back in the house. And the good bit? You don't even have to punish her because the boy cat walks by and boffs on the ears just for general purposes.

Yesterday - 5:33. Lara and Yuri. They turned one today...

Posted by: afton at April 11, 2008 05:48 AM

I've never commented on your blog before, but I have to say bless you for not writing anything on those nice cat pictures that has anything to do with lolcats. I am completely horrified by that gibberish that people seem to like now.

Posted by: Susan at April 11, 2008 06:19 AM

Oh you silly Bob!!

Posted by: Molly at April 11, 2008 08:36 AM

I adore Bob. :)

This is my Favourite Advert Ever, currently showing on UK tv. There are a couple of others with a similar cat theme for the same company but this one made me laugh and laugh. Which made my cat run away.

My cat, Ty, is scared of the floor. It makes it very hard for him to get around in the house. The floor is always sneaking up on him, scaring him, making him jump out of the way, only to land on the floor once again. It's a never ending battle.

Posted by: Amanda at April 11, 2008 09:18 AM

Aw, Bob is so cute.

Posted by: Kit at April 11, 2008 09:29 AM

On the opposite end of the spectrum, my neighbor's cat loved my left white sandal. That's correct, the left one! It was a huarache-style (anyone here old enough to know what that is?) and he would bury his head in there the whole time I was at her house. He would pace until I took the shoe off my foot. And, no, the right one just wouldn't do.

Posted by: Jane at April 11, 2008 09:37 AM

The shoe discussion reminds me, my old cat Honey loved a pair of $5 white tennis shoes I had. I had an identical pair of purple ones that she wouldn't give the time of day, but the white ones were coated in fur from her rubbing on them. She loved them so much I buried them with her. She would rub against them whether I was wearing them or not.

First - I missed the copyright thing, but SOMEONE IS STEALING SOMETHING FROM YOU??? Oh-oh...now there's a FURIOUS 4'11" BUBBEH. They best hope I don't follow up, because you have NO idea the rashes I know about. Between the legs. Oh no, you don't want a Bubbeh's Nasty Rash. On the other hand, Bob is so beautiful--Lilliane took one look and has gone to lie on the bed and fantasize about washing his ears. She has a crush, what can I say?
