Monday Bob
Yesterday I moved the big carpeted cat toy thingamajig over to the side of the room so I could vacuum the living room rug. The toy became extremely popular all the sudden to the felines, who liked it fine in its old location but in its new location it was Very! Exciting! There was some fighting and some turf warrage, but in the end to the victor goes the spoils...
... and the victor decided to lounge on the middle floor:

Blur courtesy of my crappy new camera which has reverse PMS and only takes good pictures one week of the month. This was not my week.
Happy Monday!

Did the kitties also become fascinated with the spot it used to be? Mine find the "new" piece of floor riviting when I move something.

**GRINS** Reverse PMS . . . i like it.
Much love to Bob - may he reign on . . . middle . . . as long as he likes! May the AIR! not bother him there! :)

bob the victor!
Posted by: angie at April 21, 2008 09:31 AM
Good on ya, Bob! I have to admit, with him being afraid of air and all, I wouldn't have bet on him winning the turf war, but it's good to see him on top! Er, in the middle.
Posted by: jules at April 21, 2008 09:37 AM
Wow! I would have expected Soba to win the smack-down. Go! Bob!

I may be late on this, but have you seen this video?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHXBL6bzAR4. HI-larious. You could do something similar, but I doubt you could do with without cracking up!
Posted by: MonkeyGurrl at April 21, 2008 09:55 AM
I love his big dangly legs!!
Posted by: marissa at April 21, 2008 10:03 AM
Bob has melted in the sweltering heat?
Posted by: Jill of the 7 cats at April 21, 2008 10:12 AM
Bob won??? Yay for Bob!!!
Posted by: Marlene at April 21, 2008 10:17 AM
If I let my arms hang that far over the side of the ledge, you would have to photograph me on the floor....oh, to be a cat.:)
Posted by: amy at April 21, 2008 10:20 AM
That is so cute!
Posted by: Andree at April 21, 2008 10:26 AM
Bob looks like I feel this morning.
Posted by: Donna at April 21, 2008 10:33 AM
Yeah for Bob!!! The dangling is too adorable for words. Though I am not sure that he should be quite so relaxed about his victory...I could see Soba planning a coup as we speak...
Posted by: aileen at April 21, 2008 10:33 AM
I'm glad Bob won this round. I hear the air is thinner up there so there is less of it to be afraid of.
Posted by: Amy in StL at April 21, 2008 10:39 AM
I used to love watching my cats sense furniture had been moved. tee hee hee. The carpeted cat toy tree condo thingie looks as if it was dyed to match Bob's fur...custom Creme Bobaliscious.
Posted by: cecelia at April 21, 2008 10:42 AM
Bob is blending in nicely to his surroundings.
Posted by: suetreiber at April 21, 2008 11:03 AM
Kids do the same thing - if I rearrange the living room chairs, say, they will play on them all afternoon. And fight over them, of course.
Cats are easier to feed, though.
Posted by: suburbancorrespondent at April 21, 2008 11:12 AM
Do your cats actually use that as a scratching post? Because ours (smaller version) is now used for holding hand weights in the workout room, and the chair in the office is still the scratching post.
Posted by: rb at April 21, 2008 11:26 AM
ha. you bought my camera. POS thing.
All hail Bob - who convinced Soba that the cat ladder was not necessary for her world domination plot.

Bob's King of the World, er, Cat Thing! Woo!
Posted by: heidi at April 21, 2008 12:01 PM
O.M.G. I will probably suffer a lesion of the diaphragm from trying to contain my guffaws here in cubicleland.
Posted by: Lucia at April 21, 2008 12:04 PM
Wow! Didn't realize that Bob was that big. He's a long cat!!!
Posted by: Dee at April 21, 2008 12:07 PM
Heh. I often say to my husband that life as a cat must be eternally interesting. If anything is moved, it is instantly! new! exciting!
Posted by: Geogrrl at April 21, 2008 12:19 PM
I wish a turf war in my house wouldn't end in death...thus, I have one bossy kitty. :-)
Posted by: Pants at April 21, 2008 12:24 PM
Animals are so funny when they loung like that! How cute!
Posted by: Michaela at April 21, 2008 12:34 PM
OMG... hang down kitty paws! Almost as good as an orgasm!
.
Posted by: The Other Ruth at April 21, 2008 02:02 PM
You're lucky - I moved my carpeted scratching post across the room once and they stopped using it. I had to rearrange again so it could go back to the original spot! Another cat only liked carpet samples (laid flat on the floor, nothing vertical for Sam!).
Posted by: ToniC at April 21, 2008 02:13 PM
it's so funny how as soon as things are moved they get amnesia and rediscover it again as if they've never seen it before! i tend to rotate my cats toys for that reason. funny catties! :-)
Posted by: yvette at April 21, 2008 02:17 PM
Oh, Bob, you are the cutest! I imagine his poor front paws are going to be asleep when he jumps down though.
Nothing like a change of scenery to keep life interesting. Kind of like driving home a new way from work just to shake things up.
Posted by: Patti in KS at April 21, 2008 02:34 PM
Love the individual white toes :)
Posted by: Ali at April 21, 2008 03:07 PM
Woohoo!! Go Bob!!
Oh, and if you don't mind, I'd like to use that reverse p.m.s. comment on occasion!! I really feel a connection to that phrase :-).
Posted by: Lacey at April 21, 2008 03:40 PM
I know I've said it before, but it really sums things up.
CUTE BOB !!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Jena at April 21, 2008 04:00 PM
ADORABLE! blur or no blur, it is clear Bob has nodded off into kittylalaland...
Posted by: AlliMack at April 21, 2008 06:19 PM
He's losing his paws! just like my comet does on the steps. they really love that position for some reason.
Posted by: Sally at April 21, 2008 06:19 PM
Cute Bob -- but can that really be comfortable, with the legs all hinging over like that??
Posted by: janna at April 21, 2008 07:52 PM
What a great picture of the victor!
Posted by: Sue in western WA at April 21, 2008 07:56 PM
Ahhhhh Bob and the hanging paws. Victory is sweet!
Posted by: Jen at April 22, 2008 12:56 AM
Lol@ reverse PMS! If it's any consolation, my camera is currently being repaired, so I have to put up with the uselessness of my husband's Ixus - I therefore understand your frustration.
Our cats never liked those complicated ones, just the common or garden scratch post. Although they often ignore that and attack the sofa instead, much to my annoyance! That's what you get for having indoor cats, I suppose.
Posted by: Allie at April 22, 2008 01:56 AM
I used to have cats: they would fall asleep hanging upside down off the couch. They also had territory issues about anything new brought into the house...or anything recently cleaned. I'm trying to introduce this expression into the English language: "like a cat to clean laundry." They would jump into the basket the second I put it down, even if the contents were already cold.
Also, I used to have kids, no wait I still have kids, and they do the same thing as your cats when you clean out their toy box(es)---it REACTIVATES the old toys. They have energy again. What kind of animal instinct is this? Someone should study this. It's been a long time for me, but I'm pretty sure it applies to old boyfriends, too. You dig down to the bottom of the box and say, "Hey wait, I still like that one!"
Posted by: Jame at April 22, 2008 07:33 AM
To Jame--yes, that happens with my kids, too. They might not have played with a toy for *years*, but as soon as I hint they should get rid of it, it's their favorite.
I just got one of those catnip-impregnated corrugated cardboard scratch pads for my cat. She loves it--rolls on it, rubs her face on it, lies on it ... won't scratch on it. She will, however, scratch on the rug next to it.
Posted by: Anna-Liza at April 22, 2008 09:09 AM
But, where did the rest of them go? Nobody laying on the floor occasionally swatting up?
Posted by: JoeInVegas at April 22, 2008 09:28 AM
hahaha!! Bob, you are SO adorable! My Teddy has white paws like you. So touchable and strokeable. Although, not for too long or I get the "bite". Yeah. ;)
Posted by: Leeny at April 22, 2008 11:28 AM
One of our kitties also does the whole stretch out your arms and let them hang there pose. Cuteness!
Posted by: Debbie at April 22, 2008 12:39 PM
What kind of camera did you buy? My trusty cannon has decided not to work any longer and I am in the market for a new snapshot cam. So I would love suggestions or anti-suggestions! PMS cam does not sound good. . .
Posted by: BustersDad at April 22, 2008 02:38 PM
Bob is sooo cute! He looked so comfortable relishing his "victory". My cats have their "battles" too; they usually relish their victory from the top of the tower and the other is at the bottom planning a sneak attack! They use their kitty tower as a scratching post (also now my new leather sofa!) all the time. The best money I ever spent.
Posted by: Beckey C. at April 22, 2008 09:32 PM
Bob is looking cute and floppy.
My cat doesn't quite do that. When I clean, she will go to the area I defurred and roll in it, attempting to get it back to its coated in cat fur state as quickly as possible.
Posted by: Seanna Lea at April 23, 2008 03:48 AM
Mmmmmmm - no better way to start the week than with a double scoop of BOBALICIOUS!! Of course, I didn't get here till Wednesday - is that why he's half melted?
LUV the Bobster!
