More super, so soon?

If you live in Los Angeles county and are trying to find your polling place, click here. Also ... keep an eye out for Le Soba who was last seen campaigning for herself, on a platform of "Legalize Catnip" and "Medicinal Catnip Cures All."

Platform, indeed!

Hmm...does Le Soba have the bumperstickers?
Posted by: Trixie at February 5, 2008 10:53 AM
How is Soba's manifesto going?? My husband works part time at Office Max and he gets tons of them to reproduce in the copy center. I'm sure he'd give her a great price (re: free) when she's finished! XOXOX

I vote for Le Soba..."a tuna in every pot". Thanks for the reminder, I have to get out of the office and deliver my mail-in ballot.

I like to refer to "Super Tuesday" as "Stupor Tuesday."
Posted by: Liz R at February 5, 2008 11:01 AM
I wish we had a REAL super Tuesday where every state participated.
Posted by: Nancy Knits at February 5, 2008 11:01 AM
So TODAY is Caturday?
.
Posted by: The Other Ruth at February 5, 2008 11:03 AM
Funny, my cat Maggie was campaigning for cat-friendly deli meat drawers.
Posted by: Courtney at February 5, 2008 11:13 AM
Today is also "Mardi Gras" which everyone knows means Fat Tuesday.
So I guess you could call this "Super Fat Tuesday"
Love, love, love the pics of your cats. Here in Ohio, it is unseasonably warm.......64 degrees and my 3 loves are looking at all of the birds that are checking out the great weather.
But it's supposed to be 10 degrees on Sunday morning so...........here's to Buckeye Chuck.
Salute!!!!

Ya'll vote early and often, hear?
Posted by: Jill of the 7 cats at February 5, 2008 11:25 AM
My shirt is up over my head.
Give me beads.
Posted by: psychomom at February 5, 2008 11:29 AM
Funny, my cats are campaigning for Free Heavy Cream for all regardless of species or ability to pick up the container.
Posted by: Heather at February 5, 2008 11:44 AM
Psychomom, I heard you'd get more beads if you left your shirt ON. Nothing to see here, you know!!
And my boobs?? Let's just say I wear a 38 LONG. okay??
Posted by: Liz R at February 5, 2008 11:46 AM
And my pants always fit much better after I put on a bra, too. Stop laughing!!
Posted by: Liz R at February 5, 2008 11:51 AM
If Soba ran for public office, she'd probably win. This would give her the perfect vehicle for world domination.
My cat would campaign for her if she could be paid in "sock babies."
Posted by: Andree at February 5, 2008 11:52 AM
Um... wouldn't that be La Soba?
I live in MA, and haven't voted yet but plan to. I will not be voting for anyone named after a breed of sheep.
Posted by: Lucia at February 5, 2008 11:54 AM
Hee, Hee, Very funny Liz!
Luc once told me (when he was very little) I had long chee chee too!
Let's hear it for the Long ones!
Posted by: psychomom at February 5, 2008 11:55 AM
Soba's kind of a California Variegated Mutant, herself, and I would vote for her.
But maybe America's not ready for President Jezerskosolcavska.

Don't miss the new candidate, Dolores and her knitting agenda over at http://the-panopticon.blogspot.com/
Now there's a wooly one we can all vote for!
Posted by: Nita at February 5, 2008 12:29 PM
wow your one cat must really like that cat stratching bed o.O
Posted by: Arnellies at February 5, 2008 12:43 PM
Thanks for posting the polling places. I really hope everyone goes out and votes. I did it first thing this morning and there was a line!! A line I was more than happy to wait in.
I love super Tuesday, especially now that California counts. :-)
If Le Soba get her props on the ballot, I'll vote yes! :-)
Posted by: wheat at February 5, 2008 12:52 PM
Hey if Soba is running for office today does that make this 'Super Mewsday'!?
Posted by: trashalou at February 5, 2008 12:56 PM
I have a reason to be excited about Super Tuesday! I live in IDAHO, land of "RED STATE... REPUBLICANS WIN EVERYTHING!" Saturday Barack spoke in Boise and 14,000 people showed up to support him! This is progress like never imagined! Actual, real potential democrats came out of the woodwork to see a candidate! It is nice to have hope for a change. And the future is looking a little brighter!
Thanks for the cat photos. Hope Bob isn't running for anything, he is too sensitive! :)

I'm afraid we would quickly become embrolied in a catnip scandal.
Posted by: suetreiber at February 5, 2008 01:27 PM
Love me some multi-colored Frankie toes.
Liz R. -- "38 Long" hahahaha!
Posted by: Marilyn at February 5, 2008 01:33 PM
Voting always makes me all emotional. Democracy is so cool. I love wearing the "I Voted" sticker (because I'm a dork) My kitty, Agatha, though, is in on the catnip lobby and hasn't given me any peace. I'm afraid to go home since I didn't vote her platform. Also, why are they talking about boobs and pants up there?
Posted by: orangeblossoms at February 5, 2008 01:48 PM
GAAACKCCK! The comments are (almost) as funny as the post! I'd vote for Soba in a heartbeat (haven't gone over to read Dolores' platform yet, though). As a rule I wear my "Roosevelt for President" button (that would be Theodore); he only has one quality that might lead him to get fewer votes. He's dead. But HEY! little thing like that? I STILL think he'd improve the current Administration. And I ain't sayin' how come I have all these lovely beads. Suffice it to say - I haven't ruffled my clothes and there may be fudge involved. Nevermind.
Posted by: dale-harriet in WI at February 5, 2008 02:11 PM
Hey, orangeblossoms -- it's a Mardi Gras thing. A true Stupor Tuesday celebration requires 2 groups of people: drunk people on parade floats with ropes of beads, and drunk people on the street who want beads. Women in Group 2 often flash their boobs at men in Group 1 as an incentive.

this made me smile and think of your title page: http://icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/funny-pictures-kitten-handbasket1.jpg

i thought about actually going to the caucus tonite, but since I work eve's and Edwards is already out of the race, decided against it.
Anybody besides me remember the olden days, when the nominee was actually chosen AT the convention?
It can still happen, but usually it's a done deal by then. Of course, the campaigns never used to be 2 years long, either .
Posted by: boomette at February 5, 2008 06:25 PM
My kitty wanted to vote for Soba... but thinks that first cat-voting must be legalized! ;)
And she loves her Target cardboard-platform scratcher I had to get her after your kitties loved the one you got!
Posted by: Julz at February 5, 2008 10:06 PM
The only good thing about Super Tuesday is the fact that the number of political ads (in particular the Indian Gaming Propositions which seemed to air on every channel at least 9 time per hour) will drop dramatically come tomorrow.
Posted by: Kathleen at February 5, 2008 11:17 PM
After looking at Soba's photo, it makes me wonder who's been nipping at the catnip?!
Posted by: Lynette at February 6, 2008 06:33 AM
thanks, Jill.... I get it now.... some days I'm just a little slow on the uptake-- or simply overwhelmed by the emotion of all this democracy in action.
Posted by: orangeblossoms at February 6, 2008 08:55 AM
Catnip platform.... I found that hilariously funny. Maybe it's the headache drugs, but I can't quit snickering at that while looking at the pictures.

Bossy loved Super Tuesday. In fact the only thing that separates Bossy from political analyst George Stephanopoulos is his gender. And his high-paying job. And his celebrity status. And his first-class airline tickets. And his shiny shoes. And his fabulous life.
Posted by: Bossy at February 6, 2008 09:32 AM
I'd vote for you, Miss Soba! Oops, I mean, Dictator Soba. I guess "Miss Soba" sounds a bit too genteel for our la Soba.
Posted by: Leeny at February 6, 2008 11:51 AM
Um. Apropos of nothing, I saw this article and thought of you and your no-diet resolution: http://junkfoodscience.blogspot.com/2008/02/how-weve-came-to-believe-that.html
There's an interesting summary there of the Minnesota Starvation Study (after WWII, the University of Minnesota recruited some young men for a voluntary period of starvation to better study how to 'refeed' starvation victims in Europe. anyways). This part especially reminded me of you:
"The act of restricting food and the constant hunger “made food the most important thing in one’s life,” said one of the participants. “Food became the one central and only thing really in one’s life. And life is pretty dull if that’s the only thing. I mean, if you went to a movie, you weren’t particularly interested in the love scenes, but you noticed every time they ate and what they ate.”
(Aside: yes, I am random-blog-lurking-non-sequitur-posting-girl. Pleased to meet you! Hi!)
(Second aside: there should be a spell-check function on the message board. I'm supposed to remember how to spell 'non-sequitur' all on my own?)
