So cute, so Frankie and Bob. I love her little half-n-half face.

Yep, that's what friends are for, to slobber all over your face.
Share the Love but get a room!

Awesome. I love your cats. And I love when they talk to me.

YAY kitty pics!

How do you *stand* such cuteness on a daily basis?
Posted by: Nancy Knits at September 28, 2007 10:31 AM
Bwahaha... Around here we call it the bath of death. They make with the licking, then the biting, and the chasing and the tumbling, and then it's back to the bathing.
Posted by: Bubbles at September 28, 2007 10:31 AM
Just what I needed on a Friday afternoon. The mouse-over captions are priceless!

Posted by: Katherine at September 28, 2007 10:39 AM
That is SO adorable!!
Oh, I guess I should tell you--my 2.5-year-old son saw me reading your book yesterday, and whenever he saw either the legs with the high heels on the front, or your picture on the back, he said, "Mama!"
Not that I ever wear strappy heels, or that you and I really look alike. I think he thinks every woman is Mama, to be honest. I'm so glad I've apparently made such a strong impression on him. ;-)

Perfect day for some kitty snuggles.
Enjoy the drizzle.
Posted by: MonkeyGurrl at September 28, 2007 10:41 AM
Oh, and WMG does the same thing - "I BRUSHED!!!" And I say the same thing - "Liar, Liar, pants on fire."
Then I feel guilty.
Posted by: MonkeyGurrl at September 28, 2007 10:42 AM
I really needed a smile today - thanks! Is there hope this will become an ongoing saga?
Posted by: heather at September 28, 2007 10:44 AM
Monkey I love the grey skies, it feels like weather! Real weather!
And it makes me want to knitknitknit.
Posted by: laurie at September 28, 2007 10:46 AM
Bob, dude, Frankie so has your number.
Posted by: Marilyn at September 28, 2007 10:48 AM
Ah, a storyboard! Love it, LOVE it! Almost choked on lunch but hey, worth it! Don't you just want to eat them? Sometimes I want to have my Teddy Bear for lunch.
Posted by: Leeny at September 28, 2007 10:54 AM
Ok, that was really weird...I didn't realize your one cat had a "half and half" colored face and the third picture down looked like you photo-shopped the two cats together with the head in two different colors (because I didn't see Bob's head at first)! It looked like two cats with one head!! Too funny.
Posted by: Maeleigh at September 28, 2007 10:57 AM
I needed this!
More, more please!!
Posted by: diane at September 28, 2007 11:01 AM
Kitty love!
Posted by: Nette at September 28, 2007 11:01 AM
Adorable! My sister is very skeptical that my kitties "talk" to Frank and I - maybe I need to put together a storyboard like this one!
Have a GREAT weekend! Amazon says I'm getting my copy of your book next week - YAY! I can't wait to read it!
Posted by: OtherLisa at September 28, 2007 11:03 AM
Adorable! Thanks for the kitty pix to start the weekend off with a lick, purr & meow!
Posted by: Janice at September 28, 2007 11:06 AM
I swear on a stack of 'Cat Fancy', you've always got the best photos in a blog anywhere - sharp, clear and the little dialogue thingies are perfect!
Sigh,I can just feel the fuzzy cat-ness. Their profiles are kiss-kiss-kissable. Frankie's face could be on a poster or kitty-food box, it is unique. Thanks for the Friday wonderfullness.
Posted by: cecelia at September 28, 2007 11:06 AM
Too cute!! And got me thinking: "Frankie and Bob sittin' in a tree..." (even though they're on the couch).
Posted by: Mish at September 28, 2007 11:07 AM
I too am waiting on my copy of the book. Amazon held it for a few days before shipping. Right now it is in Ohio and I am in Idaho. damn!
looooove the cats! You can always give us more. It's like little kitty vitamins, good for the soul!
Posted by: robinv at September 28, 2007 11:08 AM
If you just swap the cat on the right for a basic black and white, it looks just like my cats! You did a great job of capturing the expressions on their little furry faces :)
Posted by: Tamara at September 28, 2007 11:08 AM
Sooo cute!!! Thanks for the Friday smile!
Posted by: Amie at September 28, 2007 11:12 AM
seriously can't stop laughing at this.
Posted by: sizzle at September 28, 2007 11:13 AM
LOL! I have sibling cats who never that get close to each other. Yours all seem to get along so well. How do you do that?
Posted by: Lucia at September 28, 2007 11:13 AM
I think they have to band together because La Soba hates cats so much.
Posted by: laurie at September 28, 2007 11:15 AM
Cute! Reminds me of a comic book. Thank you so much for these posts--you blog is really fun to read and always cheers me up.
Posted by: Lindsay at September 28, 2007 11:18 AM
Ya' know, I think it's those incredibly sweet Bobster toes that won Frankie over ... who could possibly resist them?
Posted by: Carol at September 28, 2007 11:22 AM
OOOH! I just noticed this new ad!!! It's over there on the right side of the page and it's for Meow Mix and it says:
"Enter our Think Like a Cat Sweepstakes for a chance to Win an all-inclusive, culinary-inspired adventure in Napa Valley, California, with celebrity chef Cat Cora."
Do you think I am eligible to enter too even though it's an ad here? LOL. I want a free all-inclusive culinary adventure in wine country!! The fact that they have a celebrity cat chef just makes it surreal enough to be potentially AWESOME.
Posted by: laurie at September 28, 2007 11:22 AM

Posted by: Catlady4 at September 28, 2007 11:34 AM
You absolutely need to enter that contest. I'll have to hide this page from my lone kitty, who will resent me even more if she knows what she's missing out on because she's forced to live with stinky canines.

"The Bobster"
LOL! Awwwwwwww!!!

Evidence that I don't really live in the middle of nowhere even though Maine sure can feel that way....
I was passing time so I went into a local bookstore. Guess what I found. Yes, your book! Right there! On the shelf. Yippee - I don't have to order it from Amazon. Who'd a thunk? So, how's about doin' a little touring up in this neck of the woods?
Posted by: Michele at September 28, 2007 11:50 AM
Awwwww. Thanks, Laurie, that really cheered me up today! Bob and Frankie are funny and adorable and cute. But you don't have to tell them I said that.
Posted by: Anna-Liza at September 28, 2007 11:50 AM
Awww... all my cats hate other cats. Except for, maybe, Joey. She likes the idea of liking other cats but she's skeptical.
Posted by: saucygrrl at September 28, 2007 11:51 AM
Hey Laurie, Cat Cora is on the Iron Chef food tv show if you've never seen it. She's from Mississippi. Cats, food, Napa Valley wine and a Southern chef - how can you beat that?
Posted by: Leeny at September 28, 2007 11:53 AM
OMG, Cat Cora is on IRON CHEF???? How have I been missing this???
I am so entering that contest. I want a trip to meet Celebrity CAT Cora!
And Michele I would love to come to Maine ... le sigh. I love Maine. I went there once on a vacation and tried to stay!!
Posted by: laurie at September 28, 2007 11:58 AM
You never fail to amuse me, but sometimes you scare me. ;)
Posted by: Lynn at September 28, 2007 11:58 AM
Awwwwww -- I tried showing that to Evangeline and Lilliane as an example. Lilly said, 'AS IF!" and Evangeline made a snuffy little snerf and walked away. Guess it's not happening. At least they're not (often) snurling and spitting, but I'm going to go broke on Feliway. :sigh:
Oh - and I checked mt tracking at Amazon and it says "NO ORDERS"!! They *told* me that it had shipped but now, no record of transaction. Thank heavens I bought the book at B&N!
Posted by: dale-harriet in WI at September 28, 2007 11:59 AM
My cats do that very same thing but I never have the camera handy.
and when I try to sneak off to get the camera (thinking they are oblivious to my movements), I turn around and they are all there.........standing behind me........like they're waiting for me to get them their treats.
Another missed photo op and getting the stare of a thousand suns...until I'm mindlessly opening the bag of treats.
Foiled again!
Have a great weekend and thanks for the pics.
Posted by: Shari from OH at September 28, 2007 12:09 PM
Sweet kitty pics, as always, right out of my living room. Also, I had to ask a Barnes and Noble employee to helo me find your book. I looked in Self-Help, Humor, Cultural Studies... Nothing. So I got over my clerk-shyness, always worst in bookstores (no, I'm NOT buying Proust, get over it), and walked up to the big scar desk and said out-loud,"Where will I find Laurie Perry, Drunk, Divorced and Covered in Cat Hair?" Which didn't sound as funny in my head as it did in the clerk's. So I repeated, slowly, and of course, some smart person put it under knitting. DUH! By the way, I'm halfway through knitting obnoxiously brightly striped legwarmers----- for a Halloween costume for my mom.

Posted by: laurie at September 28, 2007 12:23 PM
LOL Reminds me of our two - Cheshire would wash Nutmeg's face and ears and then would move to the neck area, where her vampiric tendencies would win out. This was the stage where Nut would do her nut and start fighting. She usually whacked Cheshire on top of the head. We didn't figure out for ages why Cheshire always had scabs (and the odd abscess) there.

Oh, gosh, dear Laurie. . . I've just been through a very stressful time of things one's not supposed to talk about. In the words of an old tune, "...I think it's gonna be allright, I guess the worst is over now . . the morning sun is rising like a red rubber ball". Was that by 'Circus' . .help. Whatever that source, you've cheered me on many days. And, I especially love you cat family portraits. XOXOXO ..Audie

Love the book! I found it in the knitting section of the Barnes and Noble in Dallas and read the whole thing on my way back to Oklahoma. My boyfriend was kind enough to drive so I could read and crochet. I laughed out loud several times and I look forward to your next book!! :)
Posted by: Melissa at September 28, 2007 07:37 PM
Hello Laurie! My boyfriend was running to Borders tonight on his way home from work and just happened to be sweet enough to ask if I "needed" anything from there, and the first thing that popped into my head was your book! I'm so excited....now I have it to start this weekend! Lucky me! =)

THUD *overcome by the cuteness*
That photo series reminds me of my crazy kitten and my psycho chihuahua puppy snuggling. Kitty is always like "ZOMG WTF YOU SNIFFED MY BUTT HOW DARE YOU!!! but... oh... you're so... warm... *purrrrrr*" and my dog is like "*sniff sniff* Mmmm cat butt.... OOO IT VIBRATES! *snoogle*"
*sings* I get Crazy Aunt Purl book in the maaaail!!! Amazon.com is love! It's like getting presents... but from yourself! :D
*taps foot and checks watch* Dangit hurry the @#%& up mailman!

Please forgive me for posting a non-related comment (I did post earlier about the Bobster toes!) but I just had to shout to the world ...
MY COPY OF YOUR BOOK FINALLY CAME TODAY!!!
I heard the mailman's car and I went running, very undignified and screeching with glee, down the driveway to snatch my Amazon box from his frightened grasp. Poor fella', he'll forevermore be afraid for his life when he nears my mailbox, of this I'm certain. Ah well, I'm cackling and deliriously happy and the mailman will just have to deal with it.
Yee Hah!

Loving your book, Laurie ! I'm on Chapter 18 and had to stop long enough to thank you for making it into bite-sized chapter morsels. I used to really LOVE to read, but have only recently gotten back into the habit. I couldn't concentrate on what I was reading because of all the mind-wandering.
I had actually started reading your book last night, but I had to go back and re-read quite a few chapters. Damn the "leaded" Sonic Strawberry Limeades. Damn them all. All THREE of them ! (They were strong and resistance was futile, but they were SOOOOO good !) ; )
Damned funny book. You could be narrating my OWN life, Chickie. I embraced the hermitishness and drank every night the first year after my husband walked out. I did buy knitting needles, and yarn, and books about knitting, and more yarn... But, I never did learn to knit.
Cute yarn recipes and a bit of yarn porn at the end of the book, a bag of unused yarn paraphenalia, another Saturday night. At Home. Alone. and some vodka (!!!) still left in the kitchen cabinet, so maybe, just maybe...
