Getting a jump start on good vibes...

Focus intently on this little face:

evan-so-darn-cute.jpg

Tomorrow is Evan's brain surgery, scheduled for the morning. Evan is my lovely friend Allison's son and she and her husband Jeff are in Phoenix right now holding it all together. Surely the collective good vibes of the innernet can help them all through the next 48 hours. So concentrate! Focus, people! Exude health, happiness, smiling, giggling, first-grade little boy farting jokes, Superman lunchboxes, first bicycles, grubby jeans, spelling bees, hockey games, dating, the teenage angst, wanting to paint his room black, learner's permits, dating a girl with an earring in her eyebrow, driving the parents' car and returning it with a dent in the fender, going to college, graduating, becoming ... anything at all he wants to be.

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am. I love Allison and Jeff and Evan and hope they are all smiling soon and that one day this will all be a distant memory, far eclipsed by their son wanting to paint his room black and get a nose ring.

Good luck and God bless you and your family.

(I'll even ask my wonderful, late mom to step in. She was always a champion for the little ones! They were the only ones who didn't talk back to her!)

Visualize it and it will happen.

Hitting a home run, swimming or playing in the sprinklers, shoes full of playground sand, black light posters, loud rap music with mega bass, sagging pants, gauged out ears.....

Let it all be.

Lots of prayers for a sweet little man and his courageous parents. May God Bless

I've had them on my mind all weekend and some. Praying things go well for him! It won't be long before he's wanting that black room and piercing, my son is 14 and begging nearly daily for both. Sigh. He already had the guitar, long hair, and pet snake, isn't that enough?

Please let them know they've got a whole bunch of good thoughts headed their way.

CAP I will most definitely keep Evan & his family in my prayers. I myself have a son who is 8 yrs old and has suffered from seizures since just before his 2nd birthday. It's been hell. The most horrible feeling seeing your baby shake & suffer knowing the only thing you can do is reassure them, talk with them, cry and PRAY!! My son will go for surgery (FINALLY) next month. I know all too well the joy, fear, excitement & hope Evan's mommy & daddy are feeling. May God see them through this and comfort them. And may Evan be whomever he wants to be...without limitations.

Posted by: DeAnna in Seattle at August 21, 2007 04:07 PM

Just for the record, it's not only first-grade little boy farting jokes. It's also little girl, and it (so far) can last into the fourth grade.

Many happy thoughts to the family.

Posted by: MonkeyGurrl at August 21, 2007 04:17 PM

I love imaging Evan as being all of those little boy things mentioned..and bugs in pockets, and don't forget the collections...of sticks or rocks or locust shells. Go Evan! You are so loved and that love will carry you right on through this surgery and out into the big wide world.

Boy, you really lknow how to put things in perspective!

I come home feeling sorry for myself that Bank of America thinks that paying something through my checking account is a signal that I want to donate the money to them, so they take it out of my account and refuse to pay it or return it.

Then I realize what problems really are, and how luck I am.

All my good thoughts go out to Evan and his family.
