OMG!!! First? Is monkeygurl okay?? And on a Soba-butt post, no less. Love you Soba! (Don't make that face!)
Posted by: Jo Ann at July 10, 2007 08:49 AM
She's so pretty, even if she is plotting evil things, and your yard looks lovely!
Posted by: Sadie6 at July 10, 2007 08:51 AM
When I get a shot like that of one of my boys, I'm always tempted to add a "wide load" sign. With Soba, though, that might be asking for trouble, no?
Posted by: ccr in MA at July 10, 2007 08:51 AM
Clearly she doesn't realize how hot it is out there. And that there are zucchini.
Posted by: Martha in Kansas at July 10, 2007 09:01 AM
Beautiful view. Of the yard. Is that the front or back yard?
Posted by: Mary in Boston at July 10, 2007 09:06 AM
Back yard view... yes, she is unaware that the zucchini are just waiting for her....
Posted by: laurie at July 10, 2007 09:07 AM
My Tortie Minnie Pearl has the same backside. Its kinda funny to me because she's not a bit kitty...just has wide hips I guess, like her mom. :)
Posted by: Sabrina at July 10, 2007 09:08 AM
I also send my greetings to Butt of Sobakawa! :)
She really should stay in the comfy air-conditioning. She'd step out into that heat, and her little kitty bod would shed all that beautiful fur in one fell swoop, and then she'd REALLY have to plot some revenge. Against the weather, maybe.
Skitchies to all the kitties!
Posted by: Julie at July 10, 2007 09:09 AM
hey! 10 Pin Kitty!
Posted by: robinv at July 10, 2007 09:11 AM
Cute tortie butt!!!
Posted by: Mish at July 10, 2007 09:19 AM
Trees with green leaves - true sign of no Francisco!
Does Soba gecker at the birds?
Posted by: sernin at July 10, 2007 09:21 AM
Isn't posting one's hind-quarters online asking for retribution?
*looks shiftily left and right* Just wondering!!
Soba: Human, sleep with one eye open tonight!!
Posted by: mctwin at July 10, 2007 09:25 AM
It only looks like she's staring at the backyard - when really she's studying the window latches, and dreaming of opposable thumbs.
And, it's amazing how green your yard looks with no Francisco! Are the trees out front faring as well?
Posted by: Julianne at July 10, 2007 09:28 AM
I think it's just her turn to be 'look-out' in case the zukes start storming the house.
The cats take one hour 'look out' watches.. then, it's naptime! :D
Posted by: Jeannie in Korea (for now) at July 10, 2007 09:32 AM
Laurie,
Did you ever get the 'package' that I mailed you? I didn't put insurance on it-- and it would be my luck that the first time that I didn't pay for insurance.. my package would be stolen. :*(
Posted by: Jeannie in Korea (for now) at July 10, 2007 09:33 AM
I believe they call them 'tocks over on Cute Overload....
Posted by: Mary in Virginia at July 10, 2007 09:46 AM
Your yard looks very green -- did you take the pic before the advent of ridiculous heat?
And that is the second-cutest tortie butt I have ever seen. (I have to put the "second" in there or Callie will kill me.)
Posted by: Lucia at July 10, 2007 09:47 AM
Same shape but different color of a Smiggy butt I see sitting by my sink looking out the window.
Crazy cat always wants to drink out of the spigot.
Cats are always wanting to feel the grass under their feets.

Soba.
I am at least the 18th commenter.
I am *SO* not worthy. . .
Posted by: MonkeyGurrl at July 10, 2007 09:57 AM
Soba 'Tocks.
Lovely. Apparently its not too hot in the valley. you still have green things.
we're hot AND humid. hair angst. love the south.

Stalking the wild zucchini.
Posted by: Dana at July 10, 2007 10:33 AM
With the zucchini as her minions, the manifesto is getting closer to reality! Beware the zucchini! They are under the mind control of Soba the Great.
Posted by: Dorothy B at July 10, 2007 10:45 AM
Yikes!!! Even from behind Soba is STILL terrifying!!
Posted by: Liz R at July 10, 2007 10:58 AM
What repose! What soft powerful energy emanates from The Soba, compelling the zukes to GROW... and a perfectly pretty curved-tail there too. Your yard is wonderful green looking.
BTW, watching your feline family on this blog makes me miss having a cat so much I'm now reviewing the cats & kitties at our local shelter. I think my dog (NOT a cat killer or cat chaser) will soon have a buddy; I'm leaning toward the older cats that have moxie and are slightly 'stern' (at least that is how they are described on the shelter site).

I so needed to see pretty Sobutt today. Thanks. My boss just put a bell down on the counter and said, "anyone who gets stressed out, ring the bell." WTF?? In order to prevent multiple ringings right by my desk, I'm plotting (ala sobatater) to stuff cotton in the bell.

*beep beep beep*
Posted by: smokeyJoe at July 10, 2007 11:29 AM
Oh I hope you don't show Soba that picture. Maybe her and the zuchini are plotting word domination together. You have brought them into the house and you never know what they are up to while you are at work or are asleep. Be afraid, be very afraid.
Posted by: Tonia at July 10, 2007 11:43 AM
That is such a sweet photo. Makes Bossy a little sad that she sold you off at her Virtual Yard Sale yesterday. Stop by, still more delicious blogs to go, along with musty purple fonts and bad advertising:

Ah Soba, just sit and wait - the world will come to you!
Posted by: Leslie in Mass at July 10, 2007 12:08 PM
cecelia -- where do you live? there is a stray that is a teensy baby, only a few months old, and she's loose in my neighborhood. Sweetest thing on the planet. All the neighbors love her and so do I but I can't bring an unknown in right now, we have ... some issues going on in my house.
If you are interested and within say, a five hour's drive of me... email me.
Posted by: laurie at July 10, 2007 12:13 PM
ahh.. my little Bailey has spent some quality time this week sitting in all the windows.. watching the chipmunk that lives in the front yard, and the squirrel in the back... dreaming of when she can go out like Bella (our older cat).. but alas I'm thinking she might be an indoor cat.
Posted by: Beth at July 10, 2007 12:18 PM
Love the tail curl on the Soba 'tocks! She's a plotter for sure. Those ears look like she's preparing to pounce! samm whose catties are piled up on the cushion in the cool family room.
Posted by: samm at July 10, 2007 12:28 PM
she's totally going to get you for that picture... better sleep with one eye open.
Posted by: rhett at July 10, 2007 01:02 PM
OMG... I have a copy of Giant Word Games too! The big orange book, right there under the (not big) Soba butt.
I swear, Soba butt is not big. Because it would not at all surprise me to find out that all cats have a way of knowing where you sleep.

Queen Soba plotting to take over the world!!
Posted by: mary at July 10, 2007 01:56 PM
Soba is waiting for the Mother Ship and she has trees growing out of her ears.
Posted by: dotty at July 10, 2007 02:16 PM
Hi Butty!
Posted by: psychomom at July 10, 2007 02:18 PM
it is way too green to be as hot as you say. My yard isn't that green and we aren't as hot as you!!
Maybe Soba has overheard the zukes plot to take over the planet...
Posted by: suetreiber at July 10, 2007 03:12 PM
Hey Laurie, I named one of my new kittens after you. She's one of the 3 that we brought home a few weeks ago (see sad story on my blog; bring a tissue). We have Amy (after Amy Lee from Evanescence, Debbie because she looked like a Debbie to me and one sweet Laurie after my sweet Laurie!! Let me know if you want a photo of your adorable doppelganger!
Posted by: Liz R at July 10, 2007 03:24 PM
Laurie, what kind of trees/shrubs make up that hedge in your yard? So pretty. I want some like that!
Posted by: Liza at July 10, 2007 04:42 PM
If it comes down to an epic battle b/w the Sobinator and the zucchini, my money's on Soba.
Posted by: Peeve at July 10, 2007 04:48 PM
Soba's Army...she summons her troops!
Posted by: Andree at July 10, 2007 04:57 PM
Does Soba admit to HAVING a butt? Or have you displeased her in some way, that she will only show you her back?
Posted by: PICAdrienne at July 10, 2007 05:44 PM
Even Soba's butt is intimidating to this lowly human servant of feline deities.
It looks more like she is staring down the zucchini than planning an escape, methinks.
Posted by: dez at July 10, 2007 07:25 PM
Her feline majesty on the lookout for the servant bringing the crown and sceptre. And the ermine coat, of course.
Posted by: Gina at July 11, 2007 04:06 AM
Are you still alive? Because I can only imagine that Soba killed you in your sleep last night for posting that photo.
Posted by: Dagny at July 11, 2007 07:39 AM
I'm on yourz shelf, fishin for gamez.
Posted by: Steve at July 11, 2007 08:36 AM
Nice butt Soba! You are beautiful! You just keep plotting, lol.
I found your site, Laurie, from Poppy Q the kitty. I will be visiting again!
