Astrological tidbit
I need to have some of the sad stuff get off this homepage so I will just be posting random tidbits here and there. Ya'll understand.
Today is July 14, and the new moon is in Cancer. This is a pretty big deal for all my fellow crabs out there, you only get one new moon a year in your sign.
Susan Miller of AstrologyZone writes:
Ancient astrologers always wrote that the birthday new moon has the power to materialize wishes that are near and dear. Choose the one desire that is most important to you. Set your cell phone alarm for this date - July 14 - and be sure to make an initiation in the days that follow. What you do just after that new moon appears will affect you for the full year ahead. It's that important. Incredibly, this year, the moon will be in elegant angle to Uranus, planet of unexpected developments and lucky breaks.
Who am I to argue with the elegant angle of Uranus?
And for the other eleven signs, um ... hi! Hope you get a new moon in your sign soon! And may Uranus be elegant on that day. And don't forget, you can always get your forecast at AstrologyZone or from my lovely friend Astrologer Phyllis.

I don't believe in astrology, BUT, I'm also a July baby and am starting a new gig this coming week (also my birthday week) which may last a year or longer. So, I'm not going to argue with Uranus, either. ;-)

I was wishing I was a Cancer there for a second....
An elegant angle to Uranus . . . . and lucky breasts.
I want LUCKY BREASTS!!
But then I took another sip of my coffee and was ok with just being a Virgo.

In the spirit of telling stories to cheer you up, here is a story about my cousin, the "brave" B...
While growing up my family spent most summers helping out my aunts and uncles on their farms. One particular cousin "B", is about 4 months older than me and we (the oldest of the cousins) were about 15 years old at the time. Being the oldest, even by the narrow margin he was, he thought he was "grown up."
They lived in an ancient farm house that was supposedly "haunted," particularly upstairs! My uncle perpetuated this every chance he could get.
One day after Uncle had told some pretty scary ghost stories, B was in his room upstairs (the only room that was upstairs). His door was mostly shut. I told my sister and our other girl cousins that I had an idea... I snuck (sneaked?) up the stairs slammed the top of the door with my fist and kicked the bottom of the door as hard as I could. I then silently ran down the stairs and out the door.
You could hear this "fearless" 15 year old boy shrieking like a little girl all the way down the stairs, even from outside the house!
We were all outside laughing until our sides hurt!
Ha ha ha hah HA!

Laurie,
After Walter died, it took me weeks to be able to look at any of my millions of photos of him. He was my #1 model for over a decade. So fluffy and adorable. And then, like any good OCD, once I could look again, that's all I did for 3 or 4 days straight. (not kidding.)
In case it's of interest to you, or your readers, I think I've linked my name to a post on my blog about a Snapfish collage poster thingey that I stumbled upon over this very time. There is a photo of Walter's memorial poster on the post, and a link to the Snapfish offering too. Funny (not ha ha funny)...these 30 photos I started with were only from April of this year! (and a few I got back from his godmother's email folder I'd sent her over the last several months.) The other bazillions of him are trapped on a dead iMac and a dead iBook that went away with a data recovery man yesterday. Prayers that he can get my HDs to give up my photos, if nothing else.
I was very happy with the easy online upload process and the end product. Of course I've not yet hung it. It is still in the tube. "I'm looking for the right frame" is my excuse for this month, and I'm gonna have to stick with that. Y'all understand.

Um, speaking as a Crab, with a birthday on the 15th, (and as someone who suffers from IBS), I truly enjoy the "elegant Uranus" forecast. I mean, really! I have IBS. It's always been my dream to have anything remotely positive related to the word "Uranus."

Hmmm. An unexpected development surrounding youranus? Lucky breaks in youranus? Sounds painful! LOL!
I'm a Cancerian too (June 29th) so I hereby declare my most important desire: that all of the positive, happy, beneficial-to-me desires I'm currently co-creating with the Universe manifest magnificently and beautifully for the rest of my life.
That's right. The Genie in the bottle with his three puny wishes never had a chance with me. I know how to ask. ;-)
Laurie, feel free to change the subject to whatever you want! I completely understand.

Ok, now that I have (mostly) figured out this fancy way of putting a photo address in an email.. watch out world.. cause, the one thing that I do have are some PHOTOS! :D
Ha ha.. I promise I won't hold you hostage and show you slides of my vacation to the diner on the state line of Oklahoma/Kansas that was closed when I stopped by and the lights were all burned out..
Ok, I can tell that the crowd is starting to squirm in their seats.. so, on w/ the photo.
THIS is something that I giggle at everyday that I see it on my way home. It is on my street- and so true.. at least they are trying to have TRUTH IN ADVERTISING and maybe I shouldn't giggle at them? Ok, I can't help it.. and if you knew how much I have to pay in rent every month in this neighborhood.. you'd giggle too. *NOW I know that the name is in Korean.. but, LOOK for the English words on the sign- that is the name of the company! Let the giggling begin...

Doing the happy dance.. it worked! It worked!
OK, use this one.. use this one.. (read the other statment and look at this photo)
WOO HOO... I finally figured out a way so that just the photo shows up.. (not the way where the reader has to find the photo and then click on it so it's big enough to see)
Ok, you may continue w/ reading and posting.. but, do give me a 'imaginary' high 5 before you do! :D

Totally unrelated to this post but I grew up in the Valley in a cute little house just off Burbank between White Oak and Balboa. Is there still a Trader Joes around there? Whichever intersection is more westerly. I was telling my family about your blog and my Dad wanted the URL and I'm thinking, "Um, Dad, knitting and cats," but you can see we all want to live the Valley vicariously through you. (My entire family has moved north.) Very sorry about poor Roy. We're more dog people but FULLY understand the loss of a pet. He was lucky to have you.

I've had cats all my adult life, and my most favorite of all was Pickles. He had a tragic end to his young life. Today I went to an Arts & Wine festival, and in a booth I saw a shirt that says, "Heaven: all the cats that ever loved you will be waiting at the gate." So of course I bought it!

Posted by: Pamela at July 14, 2007 09:30 PM
I just followed the link to the horoscopes and found this little gem:
"You can go shopping once you reach the bright new moon, July 14, but not any earlier, as it is never wise to spend a great deal of money while Mercury is retrograde. Indeed, it's not good to spend money on dates that fall too close to the turn of Mercury to direct either. So even if Mercury turns on July 9, wait until July 14 before you buy your iPhone or new HDTV or new computer. You'll be glad you waited." That´s for all my fellow pisces :-))
So it will be shopping time *bg*
And, btw, the angle of Uranus is "lovely" for pisces :D
Posted by: Gina at July 14, 2007 09:42 PM
Okay: so I read that and thought it said "ELEPHANT angle of Uranus". What the...? LOL

Hey, what fantastic news, since today is my birthday! Let's just say that the way my life has been lately, I'll take all the lucky breaks I can get. I guess I'd better be on my best behavior if I want to have an elegantly angled Uranus! LOL

While working towards her nursing degree, my girlfriend's daughter had to do a tour of duty in the emergency room where she saw many elegantly angled uranuses. They usually had something stuffed inside. Household items, rodents, human appendages... :D

I'm sorry to whine, and I know you're busy, but could you go back to doing horoscopes? these other people make me scared, because it's all about security and heart's desire and if I don't make The Best Decision Possible, I Am Doomed. If I knew what the Right Decision was, I'd make it.
Any other Libras feel this way?
Posted by: k at July 15, 2007 08:04 AM
My old college roommate was an emergency room nurse for many years, and she saw many interesting angles of Uranus, but none of them were elegant.
Once the vibrator was completely, um, engulfed, and was still ON. It was a blur on the X-ray.
In other instances, sometimes the poor gerbils would still be alive upon extraction. She would wash them thoroughly with surgical scrub soap, take them home and name them after John Waters characters.
I'm a Capricorn so Uranus or anything else elegant is always welcome! And don't forget to get Uranus back home when you do your book tour!!!

Not related to your post, but I was in L'Occitane today unexpectedly (we don't have many of them around here but I was visiting a mall I don't go to much) and I couldn't remember which of their products you said was the Best Thing Ever. And I was all "I wish I had Laurie's cell number so I could ask her!" But then I realized it was a good thing I didn't, because a random call like that probably would have been rude. Ah well.

Oh dear. I have to tell you that a few years ago my parents lived in a subdivision where all the streets were named after celestial objects. The street they lived on was, unfortunately, named Uranus. I cannot tell you how many different ways they tried to come up with to pronounce that name and it just never worked. To this day, whenever we say, "...when you lived in that house on Uranus..." it just makes us all giggle.
Hope your coming week is full of good things!

Forgive my innocence- but.. 'so', the gerbril rumor is true? But, no wonder they get stuck.. supposing one could 'somehow get' a gerbril 'uh, there' how on earth did they think it was going to come out? BY calling.. 'come on gerbril, you can come out now.' I've got fresh food and water waiting for you.
I mean.. gerbrils aren't really known for knowing their names.. you know.
I think it's best that I don't understand. I think I've lost some innocence today. Sigh.. Time to sit down and have a 'real' Dr. Pepper.

As for going off and leaving your purse ... join the club. I did it a year ago next month -- distracted, as you were (but not by having lost a loved one, just by having too many things to do and not enough time to do them in). I was not as fortunate as you -- it was gone forever by the time I got back to the store.
HUGE PITA, as you might expect, and I am still occasionally reaching for a card or photo and realizing -- Damn! That was in the purse!
Worst of all? I had an almost-full punch card from my LYS! I hope the scum-sucking bottom-feeder that swiped it is forced to knit garter-stitch scarves out of cheap acrylic for the rest of his/her/its miserable life.......
