Yes, he is so sweet -- and a good kitty - you can tell by his face. Thanks for the kitty love. Wish I could go home from work right now and snuggle my nose in Perry's belly... ;(

Roy, sweet sweet baby......
Posted by: Rena' at February 5, 2007 09:13 AM
Love the Roy lovin'.
Will be more in awe if/when you post pics of Soba in the same situation.
Enjoy the neck scratching -- kitties are so precious when they are in the throes of a good neck scratch.
Posted by: k8 at February 5, 2007 09:20 AM
Such a sweet sabretooth. I must go find my kitty now.
Posted by: Rachel H at February 5, 2007 09:21 AM
I always grab my kitties ears too. And tails, and paws, and bellies, and cheeks, and and and. My stripey pants cat likes to shove his nose up my nose prior to a good neck scratchin'.
Posted by: Samantha at February 5, 2007 09:25 AM
so cute! Last night it was so cold that my cat slept curled up against my stomach under the covers with me...talk about cute!

Fangs for the memories...
Posted by: Lucia at February 5, 2007 09:28 AM
I can almost hear the purrs from seeing the pictures. You should post an audio file of that some day.
Posted by: Fluffycat at February 5, 2007 09:29 AM

VERY cute! Why are their faces always so darn itchy? I couldn't help myself---just added another kitty to my minion collection! :)
Posted by: deb at February 5, 2007 09:38 AM
How cute is this?
But I think this is PROOF that you are not human! How can you rub a kitty in your NAVY BLUE clad lap and not have a speak of cat hair on you??? Hello???
I must know. No, Seriously, I must know.
Posted by: Patricia at February 5, 2007 09:49 AM
Roy! What lovely fangs you have....
Posted by: shelly at February 5, 2007 09:51 AM
laurie, those are such sweet pics. what a cutie.
i know you have probably mentioned it somewhere in here and while i'm an avid reader of yours, (in the last couple of months) i'm curious what kind of camera you use. those pics look great and i'm in the market for a new one.
i know you have eleventy million comments to sort through so if you don't get to this soon, no worries. just thought i'd ask while shopping around.
Posted by: meg at February 5, 2007 09:57 AM
I just LOVE kitties!! They make me smile! When I rub my kitty (Earl GreyA), he just seems to appreciate it with every follicle! Twisting this way and that - almost doing somersaults he's sooo happy.
Posted by: Robin at February 5, 2007 09:58 AM
Hey! Is that a drew the crochet dude original on yer wall there?
Posted by: Lo at February 5, 2007 10:07 AM
Patricia-- Trust me, after he left my lap I was COVERED in cat hair. I lint roll -- a lot!
Meg: I use a very simple point-and-shoot camera. It's a Kodak Easy Share CX6330, only 3.1 megapixels.
But the key to taking great pictures for me is to use natural light (indirect daylight is always best) and take a ton of pictures. Out of 30, at least two or three will be good. I like point-and-shoot cameras because I usually take pictures on the fly and don't have time to compose a shot with special lenses, focus and aperture.
Also, most folks have their digital camera set on "good" or "medium" quality, because it hogs up less room on the memory card. I always shoot at "best" or "highest" quality, and just invest in a fatter memory card. The pixel quality of my camera is only 3.1, but at best quality that's still pretty good for basic photos.
Oh, and my camera was not expensive -- I think Kodak makes amazing cameras that are affordable, durable and have good quality pictures. One day I might be able to afford a fancy new camera, but until then this one works just great.
Posted by: laurie at February 5, 2007 10:09 AM
Lo-- That is indeed a wall hanging made by Drew! He gave it to me a few years ago and I love it. It looks like a crochet version of stained glass!

Posted by: Shimmer at February 5, 2007 11:10 AM
Does that guy have fangs, or what? My mom's cat has a double fang on his left side--one grew right over top of the other. The good news is that he doesn't mind dental floss. He thinks it's a toy, and doesn't even notice when Mom zips it through his fangs real quicklike.

Laurie,
I know that you TIVO Dr. Phil everyday like I do. Wait until you see today's show!!! He takes three couples on the verge of divorce into his Dr. Phil house. OOOOOH!! One of the husbands is a real doozy!! And part two is tomorrow instead of next week.
Does Roy like Dr. Phil, too?? ;o)
Posted by: Liz R at February 5, 2007 01:40 PM
Liz, Roy and I watch our Tivod Dr. Phil at night on the sofa, snuggly. But have you noticed that Dr. Phil has gotten very dark this season? I couldn't watch half his shows so far... all the stuff about murderers confronting the daughter of the murdered mom, child abuse, molestation. It's been so awful, and I feel like it plays more to ratings now than to real life lessons and so on.
Or anyway, maybe I am expecting too much from TV LOL. But I am looking forward to this one with the husbands/wives. I just prefer it when he's giving advice, not just showing people's tawdry stories. Am I way overthing this???? hehehehe
Posted by: laurie at February 5, 2007 01:46 PM
I meant to say "overthinking"
Lord I cannot type...
Posted by: laurie at February 5, 2007 01:47 PM
WOW I love those photos.. you are SOOO lucky!
WHO cares about your weight when you have TRUE LOVE!
I had to just put my TRUE LOVE of 20 years, asleep. It's so raw and painful still but seeing those photos just made me dream of future TRUE LOVE days..
Thank you, as always for the smile Laurie!
Posted by: Stace at February 5, 2007 01:51 PM
i love roy. you are so lucky to have found him.
true love. twooo love.
Posted by: miss kendra at February 5, 2007 01:53 PM
I agree with you. He is definately going for ratings this year. There's less therapy and more gory details. He's going to have a show on Wednesday about overweight kids. Really, really overweight kids. Hasn't The Maury Show done that one to death??? They'll be at least one mother who tells Phil that he's an idiot and one that cries the entire hour.
This marriage one is hard to watch. There's a very abusive guy that reminds me of both my father and my ex-fiance. It shows me why I have a hard time when people are nice to me or compliment me.
I really enjoyed him when he was on Oprah and his first year. I learned so much from those shows. Most of the ones on now are circus freak shows with him as ringleader!!
Give Roy (and the others, of course!) a big smooch from his Auntie Liz!!
Posted by: Liz R at February 5, 2007 01:56 PM
Liz you just said it exactly... I really learned from him when he was on Oprah, and even in the earlier seasons but this one is too much exploitation, too much drama.
As soon as I get home I will kiss Roy for all the internet. He is so skinny now in his elderly years and he gets cold all the time, so I end up carrying him everywhere I go when I'm home. I need a cat snugli LOL.
Oh God I will never get another date again, after that, will I? ;)
Posted by: laurie at February 5, 2007 02:02 PM
Cat Snugli!!! LOL! ;oD
(but not a bad idea....hmmmmm)
Posted by: Liz R at February 5, 2007 02:05 PM
Oh Lordy! Oprah just started and she's having grandmothers who posed in the nude for the new Dove campaign.
Can't.....not....look..! AAAAGGGHHHHH! My eyes, my eyes!!!
Posted by: Liz R at February 5, 2007 02:08 PM
I know it doesn't get terribly cold there, but here in Colorado, I left a heating pad on low all day for our elderly cat. He was on it all the time he wasn't on a lap or in our bed, and I felt so much better knowing he stayed warm while I was at work.
Roy's so handsome ... scritches from all us admirers. :)

I know exactly what you mean about Dr. Phil. He seems to be headed in the Springer direction, only with a well dressed and better behaved audience. I did like the show on the schooling debate. I agree with Dr Phil, if my parents had been radical unschoolers I'd be a vegetable right now.
Oh, and The photo of the Roys on your lap reminds me a lot of my kitty Tweek. He's got the grey striping thing going on as well. *hugs to Roy*
Posted by: Mary at February 5, 2007 02:42 PM
Laurie, have you looked at Wendy Knits lately? She got Lucy a self heating kitty station on line (//www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=8982&Ntt=cozy%20cushion&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Np=1&pc=1&N=0&Nty=1). It reflects the cat's body heat back to the cat! Maybe Roy would like one? Of course, you'd need 4... but I think this would be a case of NEED not WANT so would fit into the budget. Just sayin.
Posted by: Leslie at February 5, 2007 02:47 PM
Bossy hasn't purred like that in a long time.
Posted by: BOSSY at February 5, 2007 02:53 PM
Leslie, that is actually a GREAT idea, thank you! I can't leave the heat on for Roy when I'm at work (luckily it was 88 degrees today, but other days it gets so cold!) because I have a furnace heater that is about 200 years old and I'm terrified it will blow up or burn the house down.
Ditto anything electrical.
But a self-heating mat could save the day. My million dollar cat :) He's worth it!
Mary -- I agree, the unschooling people were very interesting! I would love to see a follow up on their lives in ten years. I hated the show he did recently on school bullies, I didn't think he was strong enough on the bully, because the grandma might have sued him. But he should have outright said that her behavior, while it may stem from pain and sadness, is just plain wrong. Just my 2 cents :)
I really liked him back during his "life Strategies" days and thought he had some truly good advice. Lately I have been disappointed.
Posted by: laurie at February 5, 2007 02:54 PM
Yes, a follow up would be awesome. I love the theory behind unschooling, but I've personally seen children that would create total chaos if left to such "freedom."
Posted by: Mary at February 5, 2007 03:09 PM
That self heating cat pad just looks like mylar covered bubble wrap (you can find it at Home Depot) with a fabric cover. Girl, you can make that your own self! (Just an idea to keep from buying 'unnecessaries'.)
BTW, when I was single I referred to my cat Fred as "my boyfriend". He loves me unconditionally, always comforts me when I need it, and never sasses me (well, sometimes he's *sassy*). Come to think of it, he is *still* my boyfriend! Hubbo's just gonna have to deal.
Posted by: LaDonna at February 5, 2007 04:04 PM
I just love that cat! I swear he is a sno-lynx Bengal like my Cavuto . Looks just like him.....except for the fang thing. :)
Does he show any interest in looking at water?
Do your cats have a page at Catster? You know you can't really qualify as a "crazy cat lady" unless they do.
Posted by: halfoldgirl at February 5, 2007 04:19 PM
I *knew* I loved you! I've adopted you as my west-coast daughter, you're a lot like my reely-trooly daughter. Roy is delicious - I've had to come back to your site five times today so Evangeline & Lilliane could look at him again. And...I don't have Tivo but by gum I tape Dr Phil (screwed up and missed it today) but my cats know that dinner comes right after Oprah. (Da usually feeds them before it's entirely over, they have him hypnotized)

Seeing you with Roy reminds me of my time with Sir Thomi. He was my sweet companion for 16yrs. and 2 weeks. He was born in my house on my big brass bed. I have never known a sweeter, more loving cat in my life. I still miss him after 2yrs, even tho a new cat lives here - Sheldon from Sitka - such a departure from Thomi. Sheldon is a sweet-faced pretty boy red-gold tabby, with the attitude of a diva. I love his saucy attitude, even when he gives a tiny bite. He was 5 yrs. when he came to me - in and out of many homes. He and I seem to share an attitude.
