BOB! What are you doing? That is your Mama you're flippin' off, show some respect. Heee Heee!
Nice Tail!
Posted by: psychomom at January 23, 2007 09:27 AM
Wow, Bob's rough on the paparazzi!
Posted by: Liz R at January 23, 2007 09:29 AM
Oh my God, he's not flipping you off -- he's showing you a "gang sign" meaning "you better shut that camera or I'm gonna pee on the carpet!"

Go Bob !

Now see, Bob is about the same size as my Grace, so I don't see him as particularly...fluffy. I think he's just right! And cute as a bug! (Don't tell him I said "bug;" he might think there was a small edible creature nearby.)
Posted by: Julie at January 23, 2007 09:33 AM
And here I thought they were stretching or dreaming or something when they did that. I am going to have to have a talk with all five of mine about their language.
Posted by: Lucia at January 23, 2007 09:36 AM
I think that's the Hawaiian surfer sign, aka "shaka", meaning "Hang Loose". Bob's too laid back (literally) to harsh on his cuteness with an obscene gesture.
Or perhaps he's a Dane Cook fan and is practicing his superfinger....

Aw, Bob! I love your fluffy BEE-hind! You flaunt it, boy! It's bootylicious! ;)
Posted by: Leeny at January 23, 2007 09:52 AM
oops - so sorry for the duplication. feel free to delete one. and this, too.
Posted by: Mary in Virginia at January 23, 2007 09:53 AM
I think he is telling you to "talk to the paw and leave him alone".
So cute though.
Posted by: Yvonne at January 23, 2007 09:54 AM
Since this is a craft blog, does Bob have a sibling named "Weave"?
Posted by: C at January 23, 2007 09:59 AM
That cat looks so sweet and cuddly and comfy! Lucky cat easy life!
Posted by: ana at January 23, 2007 10:06 AM
Oh, I thought while the opportunistic comfort was going so well he was just looking to see if he could maybe kick it up a notch by scoring some sort of additional "handout."
Posted by: Dana at January 23, 2007 10:09 AM
It's okay Bob...you're just purrrfect the way you are!
(Even if that basket is looking a little overwhelmed if you know what I mean!)
Posted by: Tai at January 23, 2007 10:12 AM
That is the international hand signal for Bacon. Soemone gave me a cookbook for Xmas called "Everything Tastes better with Bacon".
Posted by: Crystal at January 23, 2007 10:13 AM
Yep, you've officially been flipped off.
Posted by: Carol at January 23, 2007 10:14 AM
Too funny! They do know sign language and the secret of the look.
Posted by: Jennifer at January 23, 2007 10:17 AM
Yeah, he's flipping you off. Check out the slitted eyes in the third picture. That's the "you are disturbing me and will feel my wrath when I get around to it but right now I'm too tired so here" look. I see it all the time!
Posted by: ccr in MA at January 23, 2007 10:20 AM
Hey Laurie,
Is Bob Italian?
I mean, he's got the big Italian caboose and he looks like he's saying, "Yo, here's your picture, right here."
By the way, loved the last blog. I'm with you 100%. In a guy sort of way.
Wish you were here!
Posted by: steve d at January 23, 2007 10:23 AM
Hahaha. Yep, he's flipping you off. I wonder if Bob can help me figure out what my Eliot is trying to say:

Yes, Whereas Soba would get all gangsta up on your ass and whip out da 'claws.
Posted by: Suzi in NC at January 23, 2007 10:33 AM
Awww, cute Bob.
Posted by: Mary in Boston at January 23, 2007 10:35 AM
oh my goodness Laurie - only you would have a cat who would do that... I think living in California must be a bad influence on poor Bob, ROTFLOL!!!
Posted by: Aria at January 23, 2007 10:38 AM
My new cat is getting so... fluffy.... is it an orange tabby thing? Because he could be Bob's twin, in more ways than one.
Posted by: rb at January 23, 2007 10:44 AM
Maybe he knew what you meant by "fluffy booty"
Our Sweet Pea (aka Not-So-Sweet-Pea) knows ALL the four letter words that go along with that gesture. She has potty mouth.
Posted by: Carolyn at January 23, 2007 10:47 AM
28th!!!
Posted by: ~drew emborsky~ at January 23, 2007 10:49 AM
You taught him well!
Posted by: Stacey at January 23, 2007 10:52 AM
Ha! We're filing old stuff all week long, so thanks for the laugh.... I needed it!
Posted by: Amy in StL at January 23, 2007 11:06 AM
Soba has been teaching him stuff.

Charlotte! HA HA HA! That link to your kitty is too funny!
It's not just an orange tabby thing. My Teddy is a brown/black tabby and he's very fluffy himself, heh.
Posted by: Leeny at January 23, 2007 11:46 AM
Awwww! Da "Bobster" is soooo cutie! I like him! I have a big guy who's orange & with a white chin, underbelly and legs. One time I was napping with him (my face was near his big badonka-donk) and dude farted! Hello? Can we talk about bad timing here? He has since never (to my limited knowledge) emitted sulfuric fumes.
Posted by: Anonymous at January 23, 2007 11:49 AM
You know what, Laurie? While google reader was trying to load your subscription I saw written in the codes that "Soba calls Bob, Blob." heehee, that's cute!
Posted by: Leeny at January 23, 2007 11:49 AM
Sorry! That was me who did the "anonymous post" above: forgot to enter my info. This is my third post and I've been peeking around for awhile. I love your kitties (we have four felines ourselves)and your knitting posts. You are delightful. One more thing, I think Bob's nature is too sweet & unassuming to flip a birdie (don't you need digits for that)?
Posted by: Nancy at January 23, 2007 12:01 PM
Did you put him on time out?
Posted by: wendy at January 23, 2007 12:07 PM
O great, tea all over my keyboard, thenk yew very not at all! Oh yes, anyone who thinks cats do not understand human speech (and behavior) or know how to communicate have never been owned by one. And "anonymous"? One should know NEVER to nap with a badonka-donk; the best-behaved felines (is that a contradiction in terms?) may lose control after an especially choice nosh.
Posted by: Your Bubbe in WI at January 23, 2007 12:08 PM
Too funny!
Posted by: Sandie at January 23, 2007 12:25 PM
Very Funny... I want one like that...
Posted by: Andrée-Anne at January 23, 2007 12:34 PM
Awwww! He's just.... burly!
Posted by: Peeve at January 23, 2007 12:38 PM
Poor Bob, he is simply misunderstood. I think he is trying to make the peace sign... in the wrong direction, because he is original.
Posted by: Kathy at January 23, 2007 12:46 PM
Aww, Bob's fluffiness. He does the fluffy right.
Posted by: Dorothy B at January 23, 2007 12:49 PM
Hi Laurie, just wanted to let you know that you inspired me to make my own Kitty Dream House. I built one for my babies. Quite a step up from the Cosco boxes they were sleeping in before! A picture is here
http://www.flickr.com/photos/62817676@N00/
Love your kitties! Bob is precious.
Posted by: Rena' at January 23, 2007 12:58 PM
Oh that's good. Great timing. I caught a guys cat pic on flickr of his cat looking out the window at a deer. His naration said that his cat shits on the windowsill & watches. I wrote back, your cat shits on the windowsill? Marking his territory? LOL. I went back later to see what wittyness he had for me and he had corrected to sitting. I didn't know you could do that. So of course my comment looked stupid. I was able to delete it and told him no fair. That's why i LOVE your blog Laurie. Your sense of humor is right up my alley. And many others judging by all the comments. Thanks again for sharing.
Posted by: cc at January 23, 2007 01:02 PM
You are so funny! Thanks for making me laugh - that goes for Bob too.
Posted by: kari at January 23, 2007 01:49 PM
At least you have real cats! I think my friends are starting to worry about all the pictures I take of my invisible cats.
Posted by: Pants at January 23, 2007 01:57 PM
So cute! You could totally publish a kitty photo/caption book.
Posted by: Tami at January 23, 2007 02:08 PM
My calico divagrrl Hawthorne does that to me every few hours -- I've taken to calling it "the paw," as in, "Hawthorne, why are you giving me the paw? What have I failed to do for you now?" If she's really peeved, it's the paw and the foot at the same time. Much grovelling (by me) ensues.
Posted by: Ann Rose at January 23, 2007 02:32 PM
The long paw of the law. Be very afurrrraid.
Posted by: WenD at January 23, 2007 02:42 PM
He's not flipping you off. He's sayin' "come a little closer Mom" ....:)
You're guys are all cuties
Posted by: Elynn at January 23, 2007 02:49 PM
Oh how funny...Has Bob been reading my latest post...featuring Mr Ace's many sleeping positions--although I can say he HASN'T flipped me off yet! He usually waits till about 2 am to hock a hairball in the floor on my side of the bed, right where I'll step in it as I get up! I think I'd rather be flipped off!
Posted by: Robin in VA at January 23, 2007 03:01 PM
*Sharp intake of breath* Rena, the Kitty Dream House you created is sooo awesome! I want one (not for me...really... for the 4 cats).
Posted by: Nancy at January 23, 2007 03:36 PM
Thanks Nancy! I'm glad you like it. I couldn't afford the ones Laurie had seen so I did one myself. Course Ihave to go out about twenty times a day to see how cute they look in it!!!
Posted by: Rena at January 23, 2007 04:26 PM
57th!
Posted by: kaa at January 23, 2007 04:38 PM
ROTFLMEEFWAO!! When words are not required, Bob's got it covered.
Posted by: Barbp at January 23, 2007 04:56 PM
ahh, the joy of cats... they just don't care how big their butt is, so long as they are comfy. no wonder they rule the world! I could take some lessons from them... I have pics of my kitty flicking the Vs too (and you know they mean it, it wasn't by accident at ALL) and she has the biggest fluffiest buttcakes in all christendom.
Posted by: pie at January 23, 2007 05:05 PM
Flipping off is the first step. Next will be the bitch slap. And of course that's done with claws out.
Posted by: Dagny at January 23, 2007 05:10 PM
Bob! Oh so CUTE! I burst out with a "Bwaaa!" over those kittie shots.
Posted by: Amie at January 23, 2007 05:14 PM
OMGoodness Rena!!
If we send you funds/supplies, would you make one for Crazy Aunt Purl?? Well, not acutally for *her* but for the feline tribe...
Posted by: CarolAnne at January 23, 2007 08:23 PM
Why isn't it cute when people flip us off?! Bob is adorable even when being obscene!
Posted by: Leslie too at January 23, 2007 08:23 PM
Bob is giving it to the kittyrazzi...
Posted by: demondoll at January 23, 2007 09:51 PM
Rena- the cat house (oh, that sounds naughty) is so cute! I'm glad to see your cats like it. You know how they can be- get the $$$$ toy, they ignore it and play with the aluminum foil ball lying around the house instead.
Posted by: Sue F. at January 23, 2007 11:13 PM
Oh, he's not that fluffy - the winter weather has made my longhair grow a super-heavy coat and now she looks like a cotton ball.
He's cute, though - even though he is flipping Mom off.
Posted by: Peggy Archer at January 23, 2007 11:25 PM
Cat House, hehe! When I went to get the lumber, I told the guy I was building a cat house. "That's great, the world need more of those!" he said. Smartass Lowes Guy... I also REPEATEDLY put the kitties in the house until they stayed there. It got to where they were running from me every time I went outside. The first day it was cold though, they were all snug in their little rooms. Now they are in it all the time. If Miss Purl would like a house, I would consider making another one. Not sure what it would cost to ship it though. I'm in N. Carolina.
Posted by: Rena' at January 24, 2007 04:17 AM
Awww...nappping kitty with attitude.
Laurie -- glad to see you haven't fallen off the planet. Was starting to wonder about you.
Posted by: k8 at January 24, 2007 05:16 AM
LMAO! Bob is definitely too cute. :)
Posted by: Samantha at January 24, 2007 05:32 AM
woo! I am 70th!!! that pic is great- he is totally flipping you off. I would too if you posted a pic of my larger than life arse.
Posted by: Tonja at January 24, 2007 06:12 AM
Ha - I just accidentally discovered your mouse-over commentary -- even funnier! <3 the Bob

I don't get a mouse-over commentary - how do I make it work ?

I'm a new cat lover after years of being a dog person...we've had our two adult shelter cats for 9 months now, and now I join the other cat lovers in commenting on your cute cat spreads (by "spread" I am not referring to Bob's girth, mind you). I'm impressed with Bob's manual dexterity--he got his point across!
Posted by: Katie V at January 24, 2007 10:40 AM
my Russian Blue, Purl is also "fluffy" ... and as far as potty mouth is concerned, she wrote the book.
Heaven forfend I dont get her dinner to her when she wants ... make a sailor blush.
Her brother, Buster, doesnt say as much ... cant get a meow in sideways ... but when he wants dinner ... smack of paw on Mommy's leg!!
