Does Roy have a boo-boo on his face?
Posted by: Liz R at December 31, 2006 05:40 PM
Soba, we are not worthy. Roy, we hope you get lots of bacon in 07' Sweet dreams Bob, crickets are really tasty. Frankie, we feel your pain. Our cuteness is often ignored. Happy New Year from your feline friends Nic and Faith in Washington, DC (and from our human to yours).

Wishing a wonderful 2007 to you too. I love Roy! He's a cutie-pie.

Adorable! I actually bought crickets from a local pet supply place for my inside only cats to, um, play with. Happy New Year everyone!

Not that there's anything wrong with it, right? 'Cause I'm okay with it. Really. Am.
Come on 2007. Dear 2006, please don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. kisses.
Posted by: suzi in NC at December 31, 2006 06:08 PM
suzi ... I never go anywhere for New Year's Eve... too many party amateurs onb the road. When I was in college I was hit by a drunk driver on new year's eve. I guess it stayed with me, I never get in a car past daylight on Dec. 31.
So there is nothing at all wrong with a quiet, contemplative evening at the end of the year! The better to ponder your belly button and all. One day I'll do NYE up right, maybe in Paris or on a beach somewhere or in Boston ;) But for now I am home.
Roy get pressure on his head, it's because he has the "growth" in his noggin and so he sometimes has weepy eyes. But tonight he is in the chair on the fuzzy blanket with soba, and she just groomed his whole head (she is OCD with the grooming, I swear) and they are snuggled down.
Happy new year!
Posted by: laurie at December 31, 2006 06:15 PM
Why thank you. And a minimum of hair-ball-age to you and yours as well.
HNY!! This one's gonna be good, I can tell.

Greetings from where it is ALREADY 2007!
May your year be filled with much more knitting and less stress...oh yeah...may you always get the seat next to the hot guy on the bus...not the hot sweaty guy.....
Posted by: haji0matic at December 31, 2006 06:45 PM
Ah haji, I adore you. May your 2007 be stress free and happy. Hug the kids when you can :)

A Happy New Year from my herd to yours!! :)
Posted by: mish at December 31, 2006 06:48 PM
Are they resting for the celebration? I expect mine to go nutty when the neighbors start shooting. I guess it's a hazard of living in So.Cal - but where else can shorts be worn on New Year's Eve (during the day - not completely kooky here)
Posted by: Stacey at December 31, 2006 06:48 PM
I'm tipsy.

Greetings to all residents of Hairballia and their human consorts. Cough, cough, excuse me while I cough up my country. Quick, get the purple Dyson, you mortal.
Here in Hairballia, we like to refer to ourselves as Ones Who Dwell Well, thanks to our mortal slaves.
I must stop now and ring in the new year, but first, I must shed some light on a little known fact.Hairballia is a state of mind. Ponder that well.
In Hairballia, cats rule because they must. Pictures are taken because of our desire to be of service to poor depressed humans, also known as the Lesser Race, those without a catnip gene.
Enough speech, I must return to ruling in silence.
Yours in Expensive Litter....

Laurie--
I am a longtime lurker and a first-time poster. I am also a native Texan who has lived in California for 22 years and I still have not lost my accent or my yen for all things Southern. Thank you for letting me know that I am not alone in liking to be alone sometimes, that I can love my pets to distraction (3 dogs and a cat) and that it is cool to be a knitter!
Thanks also for being a wonderful model in terms of handling and embracing change gracefully and also for showing me how freeing it can be to laugh at my own little quirks. You Rock CAP!
Happy, happy 2007!
Posted by: Kathy at December 31, 2006 06:55 PM
They are already shooting in my 'hood!! I swear I live in an episode of COPS.
Hapy new years!!!

All the best in 2007!
Posted by: Becky at December 31, 2006 07:03 PM
They're so adorable... I love how Soba takes care of Roy. Happy New Years, and may few hairballs meet your carpet.
Posted by: Anne at December 31, 2006 07:22 PM
Jammies at home is lovely....kitties, fuzzy blankets, the husband happy with a football game in front of his face....all is right with the world. A New Year's Day brunch (at Dollie's and Mike's Laurie :) ) is more my style. More jammies there! Here in the 'Boro (Tennessee) it will be a New Year in just over 2 hours. It'll take me at least January to get used to writing 2007!
Cheers!

Life is a hairball coughed up by a feline idiot...
ahem, sorry. Happy New Year, Laurie! I do believe that this year holds all kinds of good things in store for you.
Oh, and Frankie? Totally cute. How come the other cats get so many more photo ops? You need a new agent.

Also, firework shooting already well under way on the prairie. Very Happy New Year to you and the adorable kitties. As to happiness...i heard this quote in a movie last week (don't test my memory by asking which one though)and it was something along the lines of how our happiness actually occurs in our memories of events...how hopeful is this? that even times in our lives that are trying and difficult can still be remembered as happy ones(especially if those times involved liberal adult libations!). And you're absolutely correct - AUGHT SEVEN WILL BE A YEAR OF WONDERFULNESS, PROSPERITY, AND LOVE! because I said so. PS - can you tell I've already begun celebrating with a couple of adult libations myself?

We are intoducing one of my three kitties to her future home tonight - Frank's place. So far, she has hid under the bed. Not even a plate of chicken can tempt her out. Good thing I'm not officially moving in for five months. Gonna take a long time to acclimate the kitties.
Laurie, you have gunfire in Encino???? Yikes! My West L.A. (Sawtelle) neighborhood has gunfire, too, which is why I spend New Year's Eve at Frank's place in Westwood.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, love! Hope 2007 brings you lots of happiness and contentment! (And for all of us hysterical posts along the way!) And for the kitties a year full of catnip, bugs and more adorable photo ops! Glad to see I'm not the only one spending NYE with the kitties. Mine has decided to ring in the new year exploring under the bed-like it's a new thing! The best is he meows to me like he's lost. Aye carumba!! Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year, Laurie!
Thanks for sharing your writing with us. You have a unique, rare and wonderful gift - you can capture more in a single sentence than most of the popular "writers" who now exist only in the cut-out bins of a used bookstore. When you finally do write your first top-ten novel (And we all hope it will be this year!), please remember we "little people" who are there for you, the way you are always there for us, cheering quietly in the background.

Damn you for providing another blog for me to lurk on! What I'm trying to say, is your spin on spinsterhood, knitting and the mid-thirties is oddly familiar and terribly humorous. Keep up the good work sista!

Sobakowa is SO ominous looking!!! Those eyes make you feel like he is going to attack at any moment!! But then you look at Roy and how relaxed and content he is to be with the tyrant. Amazing. Bob and Frankie round out the group very nicely!!!
Have a Safe New Year!

Happy New Year, Laurie and furbabies!
We live in a tiny (as in about
200 people) town in Eastern Oregon and the guy across the street from us does massive fireworks both on New Year's Eve and 4th of July. I swear it looks like a commercial fireworks display. They have a huge party and build a big bonfire in their front yard. Much celebrating until the wee hours of the morning. While I actually love it that they seem to have so much fun, I also hate it because it scares my dogs so badly! My poor little Westie girl finally went to bed with my husband because she was so scared and just shivered beside him for hours. I stayed up and knit and kept the other two dogs calm.
I have been reading your blog for about a year now and just love it. Am wishing you much love, joy and peace for 2007!

Laurie, we never venture out on New Year's Eve. DH and I are both extremely superstitious about the holiday -- Dave for the same reason as you, he was hit by a drunk in the '70s. Too many amateurs out running around and I have too many OCD Irish superstitions to obey anyway, and I swear, if I forget anything, like I did least year, the whole year goes off kilter. I kid you not, so last night I did it all and didn't care how dumb I looked sweeping 2006 out the front door and kicking its sorry ass on the way out, too.
I also am keeping a very low profile on New Year's day for the very same reason.
Much love and catnip and bacon to todos los gatos y Mamacita Purlita.
Off to cook my blackeye peas...with bacon of course (thinking of Roy)
...and our herd says howdy to yours: love from Tessie the Elder, Jigsaw, Guinness, Bella, Annie, Shamu, Seven and Brave Sir Blue.
Dez
P.S. -- don't forget to spend a few minutes today doing each of several things you love to do, to assure you will have time to enjoy yourself in 2007!

Frankie's cuteness shows even when mostly concealed by tents. Love the Bob smile, it might not be such a bad thing to have more fur than brain. So sweet of Queen Soba to warm Consort Roy like that.
All the best to you, Grandma and the fur production line.

Happy New Year, Laurie, Soba, Roy, Bob and Frankie! Cute, cute Frankie! From us and our furry Teddy in Texas! I, too, don't go out on NYE's for the same reason. Not that I was ever hit by a drunk driver but the possibility worries me.
