Apparently Frankie did not get the memo re: Basket Rights

Hmm, I have siblings that act a whole lot like cats, it would seem...

Frankie looks so sad in the first pic!

Look evil long enough...and you shall win!
Posted by: Maureen at November 24, 2006 09:50 AM
You just need to make more cat beds ;) Or will Soba take over all?
Posted by: Stacey at November 24, 2006 09:53 AM
Poor Frankie. She can come live with me. I have lots and lots of baskets for cats to nap in.
Hope your pizza Thanksgiving was a good one.

It's the same way at my house - the tortie always wins.

You are so funny - I adore your cat posts.

Aww, a basket in the window. My Tigger and I just moved to a new apartment and I think he is missing sitting on a windowsill. I am off to Petsmart to buy one of those window ledge perch things and hopefully he'll come out from under my bed!

Love the Frankie blur in the third picture.
*Jan* When I had a cat, and we moved, she hid in the bathroom and wouldn't eat or drink for 2 days, I had to hand feed her!!! They are so sensitive to changes to their environment and routines.

Frankie apparently likes to live dangerously. Then again when Boris tries to oust Natasha, he frequently gets his butt kicked. Maybe that's because everything here actually belongs to Natasha. She even got indignate with me because I had the nerve to hog the entire pillow. Hmmmm. I thought it was my pillow.
Posted by: Dagny at November 24, 2006 10:33 AM
Umm. That would be "indignant." I should go get some caffeine.
Posted by: Dagny at November 24, 2006 10:34 AM
Poor Frankie!
Posted by: mrspao at November 24, 2006 10:38 AM
This is way too cute and funny!
Posted by: Melissa at November 24, 2006 10:40 AM
Our three ferrets share one sleepsack. The cat however, sleeps on our bed, and then on top of us in the bed when we sleep.
Posted by: rick at November 24, 2006 10:42 AM
Oh but they are so cute!
Posted by: AnaBanana at November 24, 2006 10:56 AM
That's a familiar sight at my house, except with dogs...but pretty much the same thing.
Posted by: Adam at November 24, 2006 11:01 AM
i love the third shot. the action shot. it makes it all come together.

Just catching on my reading and good god woman, your hair stories were hilarious. In Yonkers we called the she-mullet a bi-level and I had one for ages. I was the queen of Aqua Net in one hand, a hot curling iron in the other and Frankie Goes to Hollywood cranking in the background.
And I was tame compared to some of the rest. One of the girls in my class was the daughter of "Mr. Carmine" from Central Avenue and she brought big hair to a whole new level. Her hair to face ratio was waaaaaaaaaaaaay off!
Anyway, thanks for the laugh. Hope your frozen pizza and vino ruled.

I was SO INTO Frankie Goes To Hollywood!!! And can I tell you it was not until I was literally 20 years old that I re-heard the song and realized what "Relax don't do it..." meant???

Animals are always so funny...more so when they have funny owners!
Regarding your last post: It was the same for me last year. All that pity from people I hardly knew. This year? So much better. I started la blog for working things out (almost) out loud. And I'm keeping it forever, even the painful, ever raw posts, so I can remember how far I've come. Farther than those fucking Virginia Slims ever will, that's for sure!
Happy holidays, Laurie. Really. This year is better for us both.
Posted by: L at November 24, 2006 11:53 AM
L... the part about the Virginia Slims was too true!!! and funny :)
I'm even decorating this year, and Drew is coming out next weekend and is getting roped into all kinds of decorating stuff. He's like the male Martha Stewart, that one. Which is a good thing because my neighborhood has already gone nutso with the holiday lights, it's too funny. One even has a whole puerto rican flag made from strings of lights, it's about eleventeen feet tall. It's awesome.

Laurie,
Have you seen the movie, "The Family Stone" ?
Soba is just like the Diane Keaton character, so very feisty ("Who doesn't know the rules ?").
Laughing is good. Try knitting through 5 episodes of South Park. Lots of scarf can get done that way.
Thanks too for sharing your progress...!

I don't post often, but I wish you lived closer to me! On the other hand, if you did, we would develop a frightening alcohol problem and gain yet-another-20-pounds from the pizza and wine.
This is the first time in the last 6 years that I did not completely pretend Thanksgiving did not exist and it wasn't horrible. I stayed because it was my parents 40th anniversary, but I think next year, I'm going to the Bahamas!

I'm decorating this year, too! I'm even going so far as to embrace my inner hippie and buy a potted Christmas tree to plant in the forest for future visitation by me in years to come. Since the STUPID EX has all my beautiful ornaments (bye, bye Christopher Radko), I'll be trimming my tree with lights and paper snowflakes. But they'll be 100% mine - no more of that community property crap.
Posted by: L at November 24, 2006 01:16 PM
Oh my - has there been a coup? Will Frankie now have his own MySpace page and manifesto? Two dictators in one household -- how do you manage?
Posted by: Mary in Virginia at November 24, 2006 02:15 PM
Oh, poor displaced Frankie! But if Soba wanted my seat, I'd probably give it to her, too!
Posted by: Peeve at November 24, 2006 02:31 PM
Torties always win. They are the Grace Joneses of cat-dom.
Posted by: dez at November 24, 2006 04:47 PM
I took a deep breath this morning and went down into my scary basement and hauled up a couple of Christmas decoration boxes that have been packed away for two years now, since well before my ex and I split in the spring of 2005. So far I've only managed to unpack a couple of things and looking at them does make me a little sad because they look out of place here in my new house and they somehow don't quite fit (you know how when you've put up the same decorations up year after year you know exactly where the green candlesticks and the snowflake lights go?) yet. But I'm getting there. But Christmas used to be my favorite holiday and it's just sad now, however at least this year I'm now in my very own little house and not cowering in my parent's basement with all my stuff in storage while I try to pick up the pieces of my life. So you go, Laurie! Enjoy your pizza and your wine! Buy new Christmas ornaments that go in your new home! I will try to find places for my old stuff in mine and someday maybe they will look at home here.
Posted by: Teri at November 24, 2006 06:45 PM
I'm getting a new apartment! That's great news, but the timing means that I'll be unpacking during Christmas. Sounds messy.
I'm determined to do some decorating this year, though, in spite of it.
Almost everybody I know is going away for Christmas, but I'm going to decorate, and I'm going to have fun!

Wonderful live action.
Posted by: sharon at November 25, 2006 02:41 AM
Oh Lord, where are the Christmas decorations?
Posted by: April at November 25, 2006 11:26 AM
THAT is not a hand-made blanket, missy. You should be ashamed of yourself.
No wine! BAD knitter!
Shit. Now I want to knit felted cat baskets ... and my mother has reiterated her shrill demand for slippers with bling. Gah. I'd rather make baskets.
Posted by: Rabbitch at November 25, 2006 05:00 PM
Soba has a BASKET??? Now Fluffy is all jealous. Like I have time to shop for, much less knit, cat baskets at this time of year.
Posted by: Lucia at November 26, 2006 05:12 AM
Oh, let me tell you! I got a FREE faux leather outside/sheepskin-inside cat bed! I priced them at the store and they're about $40-$50! The manufacturer owns the pet distribution company that my sister works for in Denver and when she was here in Texas on Labor Day we visited the parent company and they took us on a tour. I put my name on their list for a cat bed and when they had some available they emailed me and I picked it up. So cool! Btw, any and all kitty pictures/stories are loved, Laurie! Love your kitties!

I think I hurt something laughing. That, "WHAT?" look on her face at the end.... :D I need a Soba for Supreme Galactic Overlord button, I think.
Posted by: moiraeknittoo at November 27, 2006 10:10 PM
That may be my favourite post ever. The next time I'm in my office and someone bothers me, I'm going to say "what? what? Everyone knows that this is my Dictator Office. Go away."
