If looks could kill... ya'll would so be attending my funeral and then eating a casserole later today.

Hi ya'll! Work is busy! Send wine.
xo,
crazy cat lady

Tortie-tude! I love it, nothing like it. Wine coming your way!

Posted by: Trixie at September 28, 2006 10:34 AM

And nice to have company... I am on bear patrol. A blackie hit the neighbor's garbage at 6:30a and now I am waiting for the waste guys to hurry up so I don't have to keep watching the garbage can at the end of my driveway!

Posted by: Trixie at September 28, 2006 10:36 AM

Hey, I get that look from my calico all the time now since the kitten had been chewing on her hindparts. All I have to do is touch her and I get growled at and swiped. I have a wonderful picture of her being snarky on my blog. Cranky doesn't even begin to cover what her mood has been like lately.

Posted by: Samantha at September 28, 2006 10:37 AM

Oh my God, she looks like my cat Baby, RIP.
Except she called us "stupid humans," and said things like, "Worship me, stupid human!" a lot. She was a total diva. God, I miss that cat!

Posted by: Jeannie at September 28, 2006 10:38 AM

ummmmmm casserole

Posted by: psychomom at September 28, 2006 10:40 AM

Is it wrong of me to want to snuggle and snarf that kitty?! Even if I ahd to eat caserole afterward?

Posted by: waskopena at September 28, 2006 10:43 AM

Mmmmm. Blinding BITCH Juice. . . .

Posted by: waskopena at September 28, 2006 10:44 AM

LOL!
MMMmmmmm Southern Mourning Food.... I actually had to try and describe that to my born-in-Jersey-grew-up-in-North-Carolina husband. Oooh even us Southern Expats in So Cal have the BEST funeral food!!! Why can't we just play pretend funeral and get together with all that fabulous food without all the messy and sad dying part?

Posted by: Susan at September 28, 2006 10:47 AM

So, so cute! Wouldn't it be cool to be covered in fur?

Posted by: Jann at September 28, 2006 10:50 AM

Confession time Laurie . . . sometimes when I go to your site I use my bookmarks and sometimes I just type your url . . . more than once I've typed "www.crazycatlady.com" instead of "www.crazyauntpurl" . . . oops! But I mean it in the nicest way!

Posted by: Colleen at September 28, 2006 10:57 AM

Ooohh! What horrendeous deed earned you THAT face??! I think my Kermit could take lessons from the Soba! MrrROWWWWRrrrrr!

Posted by: mctwin at September 28, 2006 10:58 AM

Is that a 49-ers blankie?

Posted by: Jenny at September 28, 2006 11:11 AM

We have a completely antisocial cat who gives us that look ALL THE TIME. Unless he's actually biting one of us.

He's a real gem.

Cabernet?

Posted by: Ellen at September 28, 2006 11:19 AM

She is SO related to my cats. Except for Ed, who is related to Bob.

Posted by: Lucia at September 28, 2006 11:28 AM

I get that look from Pan sometimes. He seems to think I'm not too bright, when I disturb him at times when he clearly wishes to be Left Alone. But sometimes he's so cute, I can't help myself. Must Kiss The Kitty!

Mailed off your blanket square this week. I'm looking forward to seeing the completed blanket(s)!

You want Char-don-NAY?

Posted by: Amy at September 28, 2006 11:47 AM

What is it with tortoiseshell cats and THAT look?
My Manx cats never do that.

Posted by: Shirley at September 28, 2006 11:56 AM

You know who has wine? The Farmers Market!

Posted by: Annika at September 28, 2006 11:59 AM

Hey Soba - I've just posted a photo of your name on a railway bridge in Canterbury. Seems like you started your world domination in the UK!

Posted by: mrspao at September 28, 2006 12:06 PM

I think even more than the weather, I'll miss funeral food now that I no longer live in The South.

Posted by: Amy in StL at September 28, 2006 12:21 PM

My Bitch gives me that look all the time and I'm sure if she could she would rule the world!

Posted by: ana at September 28, 2006 12:38 PM

Will you go to the LA County Fair for me? Sounds like fun but I'm in NC.

Posted by: Cynthia at September 28, 2006 12:45 PM

I've been craving red wine like crazy lately. Work/life stress will do that I suppose.

Tonight I will indulge. :D

Oh and I was going to take a picture of my knitting space, but I just sort of knit all over so I got confused and wander off to look at something shiny. huh.

Good luck with the week and don't let the kitties trip you and eat your brains!

I'm with psychomom: I LOVE casserole!

Posted by: lorinda at September 28, 2006 01:00 PM

Would you hate me if I told you that I never had casserole till I was in my 30's? Still don't get it.

Posted by: Cookie at September 28, 2006 01:06 PM

ahahahahaha THIS is why I read your site!

Posted by: linds at September 28, 2006 01:09 PM

Can I tell you how I love this cat? I want to give it a big hug. Yes I realize I'd probably lose an ear and possibly an eyeball, but she just makes me want to love on her!! Lucky Roy.

Posted by: Lynn at September 28, 2006 01:10 PM

That's the same look I get all the time from my thirteen-year-old daughter. Only much scarier.

Posted by: Liz R at September 28, 2006 01:24 PM

My cat does the same exact thing! Puts one paw over her eyes to shield the annoying humans out.

Posted by: Jennifer at September 28, 2006 01:26 PM

wine?
casserole?
I'm so there!

suzi - anxiously awaiting the 500 MB post of all the Purl-ites knitting nirvanas.
:)

Posted by: suzi at September 28, 2006 01:31 PM

I'd totally snorgle Soba. The pain would be worth it!

Posted by: Peeve at September 28, 2006 01:42 PM

I have wine. No casserole though. Will angel hair and red sauce do? Come onna my house. :)

Posted by: Kristin at September 28, 2006 01:57 PM

I'd sleep with one eye open tonight, CAP.

Posted by: Martigny at September 28, 2006 02:11 PM

My kitty (also a tortie) does that look too. But I always interpreted it as more of a, "I need rest, my public. Call me later!" kind of thing.

Posted by: RandomRanter at September 28, 2006 02:18 PM

Pretty kitty - get your beauty sleep ;o)

Posted by: Rhelynn at September 28, 2006 02:22 PM

I just so happen to have a glass of Chard going. I'd be happy to share. Work was crazy for me today, too! My brain is fried and I think my eyes are bleeding. Cheers, Laurie!!

Posted by: Annie from MAINE!! at September 28, 2006 03:22 PM

Probably no wine for me until Sunday... I'm running a major overnight fundraiser this weekend, and need to keep my wits about me. I must say, I've got a nice bottle of Regaleali that seems to be calling my name. Maybe I'll bring it to share with the committee after we finish setup tomorrow night. (Maybe I won't share.)

Hope work gets better for you soon.

Tuna noodle casserole. With peas. And the yummy sauteed saltine cracker topping. With a side of homemade applesauce. Not that I've thought about this or anything.

Tuna noodle casserole. One of my favorite sister's favorite meals. What kind of wine do you sip with that?

Posted by: Annie from MAINE!! at September 28, 2006 03:59 PM

Oooh, funeral food. Reminds me of the book "Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love". Any of you read that one?

Posted by: Kat at September 28, 2006 04:01 PM

Ooh, I've been the recipient of that look m-a-n-y times over the nine years we've had cats :)

Posted by: Jenny Ryan at September 28, 2006 04:26 PM

Who's the author of that book, Kat?

Posted by: Annie from MAINE!! at September 28, 2006 04:37 PM

When one of our cats looks at me that way I pretty much think they are memorizing my face so they can scratch my eyes out late at night when it's dark.

Posted by: Danielle at September 28, 2006 05:04 PM

Cookie- OOoooooohh, young lady, git yourself to a bookstore RIGHT NOW and buy "God Save the Sweet Potato Queens" by Jill Connor Brown and MAKE yerself a little bit of coronary-inducing heaven.
Really. YOu gotta.

Posted by: Susan at September 28, 2006 05:09 PM

I have just discovered your blog and are in love with it! I like to look at details of other people's homes and enjoy your writing..

Posted by: Marissa at September 28, 2006 05:18 PM

Casserole? Nah. The church ladies I know in Georgia and Alabama would be whipping up some ham, fried chicken, potato salad, and red velvet cake. Well, that would be the first wave of food.

Posted by: Dagny at September 28, 2006 07:51 PM

Casserols and dainties. Don't forget the dainties for God's sake! What's a heart attack without the sugar high?

You chose the wine, I'll save up for the trip. http://www.winesofcanada.com/her-wines.html

Posted by: Dorothy B at September 28, 2006 08:19 PM

So, I live in Minnesota now, and apparently these "casserole" things of which you speak are actually called "hot dish" here. Some variety of starch, combined with some variety of meat. Then more starch. And starchy sauce. Might as well just eat the butter and flour by the spoonful.

Of course, I say this now, but in February, when I am freezing my a$$ off shoveling snow, one of those things BETTER be working in the oven when I get back inside...

Posted by: Shelly at September 29, 2006 05:44 AM

Tuna noodle casserole (or any "butter and flour by the spoonful" tm Shelly) goes very nicely with this yummy Rhubarb White put out by Boyden Farms here in Vermit. It's light and refreshing and packs a whollop. What more can you ask from your alcohol?

Cuppa Knitting To Go Capri Mint Julep

Have y'all seen this? Sure, it's acrylic, but it's for kids so maybe that's okay (plus I swear that the acrylic mittens my grandma made when I was a kid were 100% snow-proof). Check it out:

green chile, chicken with a fried egg on top

Posted by: psychomom at September 29, 2006 02:39 PM

I love that 'you die now human' look - I get it all the time. Just can't keep my hands off the furry little bastards especially when they're sleeping. Cats ROCK! So does casserole.

Posted by: alisonmc at September 29, 2006 02:49 PM

Why do people even like cats when they give such vicious looks? You never see a dog do that? Dogs are always happy to see their owner, with their tongues hanging out. Uh, is this the wrong forum to be writing this...?
