Really, ya'll. I have not changed one bit.
(Except now I sometimes wear pants.)

Comments

how adorable is that? And pants are always a good thing to wear outdoors.

Posted by: Sue F. at May 19, 2006 09:51 AM

Yeah, I just snorted soy milk out my nose.

Posted by: Imaginarymaggie at May 19, 2006 09:52 AM

i'm commenting only because i am the first to be able to do so and that has never happened to me before. i haven't even looked at the post yet.

Posted by: Kari-Lynn at May 19, 2006 09:53 AM

Is that bear wearing your tennis shoes?

Posted by: Jann at May 19, 2006 09:54 AM

SO cute (and a mere 2 months before I arrived).

Pants are overrated ;)

I was more of a no shirt kind of girl (I had older brother's and figured if they can go topless so can I), thankfully I've outgrown that for the most part. :)

Posted by: carma at May 19, 2006 09:54 AM

I think the bear was wearing my brother's shoes. I am wearing a KISS t-shirt. Because that's how I rolled... even then...

Posted by: laurie at May 19, 2006 09:55 AM

rock star hair!! :)

Posted by: Shelby at May 19, 2006 09:55 AM

Wow, I wore shirts with little lambies and duckies on them. You were way cool.

Posted by: Jann at May 19, 2006 09:58 AM

Very cool KISS t-shirt. You were hot even then.

Posted by: Jennifer at May 19, 2006 10:00 AM

I used to wear my panties on my head....I wonder what freud would say about that???? Cute pic!

Posted by: Whitni at May 19, 2006 10:02 AM

You haven't changed not one bit. You were adorable then and you are adorable now.

Posted by: Steph at May 19, 2006 10:05 AM

I didn't have time or energy to write anything today, who schedules an 8 a.m. conference call on a Friday? who? argh.

I remember when life was easy, just me and my green panties and a bear on my shoulders. the good ol days.

Posted by: laurie at May 19, 2006 10:07 AM

You appaear to be happy without pants. Try showing up for your 8am conference call with out pants. Maybe it will make you happier.

Posted by: Crystal at May 19, 2006 10:10 AM

Pants are irrelevant when one has a stuffed animal on ones shoulders. Comfort is far more important in times like that!

Posted by: GoddessKristin at May 19, 2006 10:14 AM

LOVE the picture. You were a rockstar even as a kid!

Posted by: Samantha at May 19, 2006 10:15 AM

Are those knitted knickers?
Mia

Posted by: mia at May 19, 2006 10:15 AM

i'm relieved to hear that you were pants.

Posted by: maryse at May 19, 2006 10:19 AM

and that you wear them.

Posted by: maryse at May 19, 2006 10:19 AM

So cute! Hope you and the kitties have a lovely weekend x

Posted by: Victoria at May 19, 2006 10:20 AM

So, Laurie, note how little you cared about your juicy booty then.

And a KISS shirt on a six-year-old.... wow. I was sportin' Rainbow Brite when I was 6.

And my underwear had Josie and the Pussycats on 'em.

I rocked.

Posted by: k8 at May 19, 2006 10:24 AM

You were a hell of a lot cooler than me in that KISS tee-shirt! My mom made me wear white cardigan sweaters with the top button buttoned!

Posted by: LeAnne at May 19, 2006 10:26 AM

Cute Picture!! I am a teddy bear fan as well and have clothes for mine. My XXL bear wears a pair of my basketball shorts, an orange t-shirt. He's worn them since I was in college. I guess he is due a change of wardrobe, but I don't really know what would be acceptable for a mid 20-year old bear to wear... I mean, business casual? I could buy him dockers and a golf shirt :)

Posted by: Rhett at May 19, 2006 10:27 AM

hmmmm, i havn't changed either but i had a huge pink knee length sparkely jem sweat shirt on when i had the bear with the tennis shoes on my shoulders :]

Posted by: suzy at May 19, 2006 10:30 AM

hmmmm, i havn't changed either but i had a huge pink knee length sparkely jem sweat shirt on when i had the bear with the tennis shoes on my shoulders :]

Posted by: suzy at May 19, 2006 10:30 AM

Cute! I had Days of the Week underwear around that time. Those were sweet.

Posted by: Catherine at May 19, 2006 10:35 AM

I was into shirts and pants. Now shoes were another issue. I used to yell at my mom, "If god had intended for me to wear shoes, I would have been born with them on." Funny little kid logic and all now that I think about it because using that then I should have been running around with nothing on.

Posted by: Dagny at May 19, 2006 10:41 AM

my "rock star" t-shirt was Sean Cassidy. And I'm still having trouble keeping my pants on! oops!

Posted by: Carolyn Edrington at May 19, 2006 10:46 AM

You look like my best friend - she would run around in her undies with a blanket tied around her shoulders. Ah, those were the days!!!

Posted by: Monkeygurrl at May 19, 2006 10:46 AM

My favorite shirt had a cartoon of a turtle sticking its tongue. A good one for the girl that played with frogs & turtles, I guess.

Posted by: Terri at May 19, 2006 10:52 AM

Purl - I am totally sympathetic to your 8am teleon agony! The Big Kahuana of my company has 7:20 am meetings with the management staff EVERY Tuesday and Thursday. And he doesn't like us to bring coffee into the conference room. Grim. Grim I tell you - Grim!

I hope your 8am telecon does not become a regular thing.

Your pic is adorable.

Hope you have a fabu weekend, and give your felines a kiss for me!

Posted by: marcia at May 19, 2006 10:52 AM

Oh yeah...I got a new baby...just 'cause I'm bursting to share!

You should post an updated photo, of you and Roy in the same pose! (you pantsless, Roy in the sneakers). Heh. I see there's someone behind you who doesn't have any pants either. Runs in the family? ;)

Posted by: jodi at May 19, 2006 11:06 AM

pants are so over-rated...

Posted by: ~drew emborsky~ at May 19, 2006 11:11 AM

We had the same lawn loungers!!! But you were a way better dresser :)

Posted by: Cameron at May 19, 2006 11:11 AM

Sadly, KISS had not yet formed when I was six, but I'd have been right there with you.
Pants are always overrated.

Posted by: Laurie Ann at May 19, 2006 11:18 AM

Your cool factor just went through the roof! I thought I was the only 6 year old that had a Kiss t-shirt.

Did you watch CSI last night?!

Posted by: Jenny at May 19, 2006 11:20 AM

Rockin! At least you wore underwear. I'm afraid there are several photos of me playing on the screen porch in either a t-shirt or a jacket (with the hood up, of course) and NOTHING on the bottom half.

Posted by: Susan at May 19, 2006 11:20 AM

Oh- and they were from 1977, too!

Posted by: Susan at May 19, 2006 11:21 AM

Pants! Who needs them? U R SO CUTE!

Posted by: farm-witch at May 19, 2006 11:41 AM

I love that picture!!!! so cute!

Posted by: wendy at May 19, 2006 11:59 AM

Suzy...OMG! I thought I was the only person who remembered Jem!

Hmm...I believe I would've been wearing something made by one of my bajillion aunts back then. I think I was obsessed with a Heidi dress from my Aunt Liz. (I was four in '77...I didn't know any better...and my parents were hippies. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.)

Posted by: Tara L at May 19, 2006 12:06 PM

Yup- you're a cutie!
And why not go pantsless to the 8:00 meeting? As long as you wear a skirt OVER the bootie, how are they to know you're going commando?
And it makes one feel so naughty!

Posted by: Susan at May 19, 2006 12:07 PM

The bank I worked at once had a MANDATORY meeting on MY DAY OFF at 6:30 AM. I told my boss I hoped he didn't mind me coming to the meeting in my robe and nightgown.

Posted by: Cheryl at May 19, 2006 12:10 PM

Great!

For a guy who thinks you are sexy, I get a photo of you when you're a little girl.

Now I'm a perv........LOL

Posted by: Steve at May 19, 2006 12:17 PM

My fave t-shirt of the day was light blue with a sparkly iron-on of Wolfman Jack that I picked out my bad self at the mall. I used to love to go that store and look at all the cool iron-ons up on the wall!

Posted by: Crystal at May 19, 2006 12:25 PM

Bah, who needs pants?!
Too cute!

Posted by: demondoll at May 19, 2006 12:28 PM

Pants are highly overrated. And happy birthday!

Posted by: Mary Ellen at May 19, 2006 12:31 PM

I had the same shirt!! I usually wore it with pants though.

Posted by: countess_shell at May 19, 2006 12:32 PM

It appears that someone is kicking you azz in the photo...lol...I hope THAT has changed. Today is my mom's b-day too.

Happy Birthday.

Posted by: Lynae at May 19, 2006 12:35 PM

I can't even tell you how good today's post made me feel. What a cute picture.

So I was at CVS last night and they had new lip smackers in Jello flavors...very cool.

Conference calls before 10am are evil, but not as evil as conference calls at 5:30 on a Friday.

Posted by: laura at May 19, 2006 12:55 PM

Oh, and I once dated a guy who had a teddy bear that was wearing his soccer shorts and polo shirt from elementary school...

Posted by: laura at May 19, 2006 12:57 PM

Hmmm...you look way cooler than I think I did back in '77...I was 2, blonde (that didn't last) and rockin' a little bowl cut. And aside from growing a few curves, and the hair naturally turning dark boring brown, I pretty much look the same now...

Posted by: Tami at May 19, 2006 12:57 PM

At least what clothes you have on are on correctly! My dad used to dress us inside out and backwards! People always knew when Dad had dressed us that morning.

Aside to Rhett: Try Build-A-Bear! Even if the clothes don't fit, there will be tons of fashionable attire ideas for the well-dressed bear!

Hugs to you, laurie and kisses to those wonderful kitties of yours! All of them SO beautiful!

Posted by: mctwin at May 19, 2006 01:01 PM

Marcia...what kind of sicko has a 7:20 am meeting and doesnt allow coffee?

Posted by: Lori at May 19, 2006 01:02 PM

You're adorable! I the Kiss t-shirt.

I used to have to wear my Wonder Woman Underoos over my sweatsuit. And that just kind of ruins the whole look. But now, as an adult, I understand my mom's reasoning behind that one since New England winter tends to be pretty cold.

Posted by: Sioux at May 19, 2006 01:06 PM

Dang, you are so cool! My cool shirts from that age had either Mork & Mindy or the Dukes of Hazard on them. Yeah, it's dorky, but--hey--Bo Duke was HAWT!

Posted by: Ang at May 19, 2006 01:07 PM

The Big Boss isn't really a sicko. He is actually a really nice guy and an excellent manager in terms of employee relations/advancement etc. But, he is retired Air Force, and an engineer. That should explain it all. And he lives only ten minutes from work. I live 45-50 minutes from work. Arrgh. I earn my salary. Purl, DON"T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!! :-)

Posted by: marcia at May 19, 2006 01:11 PM

Pants are overrated.

Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Jess at May 19, 2006 01:22 PM

Awww! Shuks, you were a cutie. This reminds me of a picture of my brother and me when I was maybe 5? I’ve got pants on my arms and a shirt on my legs and underwear on my head and some marker scribbled on my face.. Actually I have many pictures of the things my older brother used to do to me for “fun”. I can only guess my parents found it adorable and worth recording.

Posted by: shananigans at May 19, 2006 01:30 PM

LOL... ya'll! My birthday isn't until June. where did this rumor get started? do not age me before my time!!! heheheheh

Friday. so. happy.

Posted by: laurie at May 19, 2006 01:36 PM

Hi, Laurie!
I meant to post a comment yesterday and forgot. My birthday is June 24 and I will be 34! I understand about people trying to age you before your time!

Posted by: jalynr at May 19, 2006 01:55 PM

I always wanted Underoos, but I don't think you could get them where we lived. Or maybe my mom was just being MEAN when she told me that.

Posted by: Jeannie at May 19, 2006 02:29 PM

It's my considered opinion that none of us really changes. We just learn that it's socially acceptable to wear pants.

Posted by: Lucia at May 19, 2006 04:28 PM

I didn't have time or energy to write anything today, who schedules an 8 a.m. conference call on a Friday? who? argh.

I'll see your 8:00 am C-call and raise you a 4:00 am C-call. :P

*dies* That's never a good time.

Get some rest and red wine this weekend, woman!

A Kiss fan! I love it

Posted by: Lisa at May 19, 2006 07:06 PM

Happy Birthday! Love the hat. Oh, and the outfit too. Who needs pants, it's 90 degrees outside - oh, that's here. Ahhh, the spring of '77, I remember it well. I was pregnant and living in WA. I hope you have some fun!

Posted by: Julia at May 19, 2006 08:15 PM

Hey, you are my kind of gal. I was about 7 around then (old enough to be your big sister), and I was known for dressing very similarly. But then again, I was also known to go topless still at that age too, like someone earlier up the comments list suggested. What can I say about cute blond chicks who like to be exhibitionists? And don't worry, my booty has not held up the test of time either, so I'm with 'ya sistah!

Posted by: Dani at May 19, 2006 09:05 PM

Hi Laurie, this is my first time posting a comment. When I found your site, via my sis, I spent three days of doing nothing but reading all of your blog entries. I thought I would never catch up with you. But I did! LOL Just wanted to tell you, I love your blog. You are such a talented writer. So fun!

And way too cool for your pants. LOL

I recently started my own blog and of course your link was one of the first I put on my "favorite Links"

Posted by: Sheri at May 20, 2006 02:20 AM

Excellent kid pic! Makes me want to find the one of me and my homies wearing plastic buckets on our heads, wielding sand shovels, and loaded for bear. Mind you, this was after a few g&t's. ;)

Posted by: Joan at May 20, 2006 08:27 AM

In my opinion, pants are highly over-rated. Cute pic!

i like how the bear is wearing shoes! cute!

Posted by: tammy at May 20, 2006 02:30 PM

Wow! If you had been wearing a "Ponch" tee, I would've mistaken you for me! I even had the Monroe blonde hair back at that age too!

Posted by: Jill at May 20, 2006 03:34 PM

Oh,by the way, I used to have a plush monkey that wore my roller skates! I still have the monkey, wish I still had the skates.
