Every construction site needs a foreman.

Sobakow directs her minions on the building of the Target cubicle bookcase.
Also: The Sobatator hates to be called the Soba Tater.

Your site is like a breath of fresh air. Your cats are HILARIOUS! Thank you for featuring them in the way you do. I always think my pets have all those crazy thoughts of power in their heads whether I am knitting or not. This latest photo and caption is fantastic....

I would call her the Sobantate, like Potentate, but a kitty! I love how cats can be in the middle of everything, and still manage to look unimpressed at the same time.
I love, love, love the chair in the background!
Posted by: Corrie at April 9, 2006 08:49 PM
A kitty cubicle! Working on a TPS report, I'm sure.

I've just recovered from an ecstatic frenzy that I fell into when I saw that FUNKY chair behind Sobakow. Where oh where did you find that chair? I've got a crush on it...
Posted by: PoMo at April 9, 2006 09:02 PM
Sobakawa just kills me every time. I love the tortoiseshell attitude!
Posted by: Jess at April 9, 2006 09:15 PM
Hahaha. I've got those bookcases. Yay TARGET!
I had to build mine without cat help.

I can LOOK at this photo and tell you're not reading the directions....PLEASE put down the wine and read the directions...

Your cats crack me up - I love reading what they're up to. I think I need a kitty foreman for the things I build - it would really help!
The hurt goes away a little each day - keep smiling and know that we're all rooting for you!

She doesn't need directions, the cat is supervising! :)

Soba should have a helmet on, she looks like she is in a fox hole!
Go KittyPowers, construct that thingy!
Posted by: Trixie at April 9, 2006 09:51 PM
All the foxholes (we call them fighting postitions) I have been are MUCH DIRTIER than this.
But if it is a construction project...yes according to OSHA regs: Soba-the-dictator NEEDS a helmet. NOW...how do you keep a helmet on a cat???
simple.....STAPLES!!!!

Fighting positions...I learned something new today!
Posted by: Trixie at April 9, 2006 10:35 PM
I now take comfort in knowing that I am not the only adult person in the world without children who owns Operation.
Thank you. : )

OMG, I'm in the middle of a nasty, nasty email fight with an ex-bf, and that pic is the first thing to bring a smile to my face in hours. My own kitty is sleeping in a papasan across the living room from me, but he is not being nearly as entertaining as your Soba!

Hope you have a power screwdriver, just one assembly job makes it worthwhile. Save your wrists for knitting!
We must all bow down before the Sobakowa. Tremble and obey!

Shouldn't that be "forecat"? Thank goodness you have someone to run things. Me, I get the Tiny Furry Idiot Tree Dweller.

The photo, caption, Trixie and Hajji have just given me the first laugh of the month. Thanks, y'all.

TEE HEE! Soba Tater!
Posted by: Amy at April 10, 2006 05:09 AM
Haji cracks me up with his nicknames for himself. This comment was supervised by the Rocco tater.

Looks more like a SobaCave than a bookshelf...
Does this mean that when she was a kitten she was the Soba Tater Tot??
Posted by: Peeve at April 10, 2006 05:45 AM
soba tator tot.....ha ha!!! That Soba is one beautiful kitty. Good luck in the construction!!! I myself am not screwdriver savvy.

I love how kitties make everything seem less serious. I hope you are doing OK, I read your post yesterday and have been thinking of you ever since. One day at a time, girlfriend.

Woke up to find my son's car had been broken into. All his baseball equipment was taken.
Boooooo Hoooooooo. I wish Soba had been here keeping watch from the cubical foxhole. She wouldn't have taken any crap from those losers and could have left them with some mean scratch marks. ps: today is my 45th birthday

Hey Haji-San
When my father was on Uncle Sam's Walking Tour of Europe of 1944, he too had some foxholes that got kinda dirty/muddy. But he has always maintained the best foxhole he ever had was the one he inherited from the airborne guys who came in before him at Ardiennes Forest (aka The Bulge). He said the foxhole was constructed in 2 levels, and somehow that helped with the mud factor. I hope you don't have to spend too much time in foxholes in the future, but if you do, maybe that tip will help you.

She looks like she's plotting your destruction... LOL. Or maybe just dreaming about bacon.
Posted by: Jess at April 10, 2006 08:52 AM
I think of Soba as the Soba-nator. S3, to be exact.
Posted by: MonkeyGurrl at April 10, 2006 08:53 AM
I thought Roy was the bacon-lover!
Ah, well. Hugs & bacon to all, and to all a good Monday. :)

You have Operation???? I loved that game as a kid!
Posted by: melissa at April 10, 2006 08:53 AM
First: the Target cubicle bookcase. Next: the world.
Posted by: Noelle at April 10, 2006 08:57 AM
My sour puss of the bunch is Leon. I didn't think another cat could match his glare, but Soba wins hands down. be afraid....be very afraid.

"Working on a TPS report, I'm sure."
Soba got the memo. I'll send *you* again.
Posted by: Lo at April 10, 2006 09:23 AM
That is to say, I'll send it to you again.
It's a good thing I have people skills, goddamit.
Posted by: Lo at April 10, 2006 09:24 AM
looks like soba and dictator daddy have alot in common....
Posted by: minou + mommy + birdie at April 10, 2006 09:41 AM
Um, Soba? I...I believe you have my stapler.
Posted by: Milton Waddams at April 10, 2006 09:46 AM
heheheh... I hadn't even thought of the Office Space-ness of it til ya'll pointed it out, now she is SO in a cat cubicle LOL.
The chair is from Ikea! I love it. It was supposed to be my new office shair, but I liked it so much I left it in the living room.
And one night we were having a party at my house and I walked into the living room and Jennifer was kicking Karman's ass at Operation, and it was the funniest thing. It was like those girls were playing for big money in Vegas, they were so competitive!
Posted by: laurie at April 10, 2006 10:05 AM
I bet Soba is a wizard with an Allen wrench.
Posted by: Catherine at April 10, 2006 11:23 AM
LOL! I'm sitting here in my cubicle and looking at Soba in her cubicle and I have a feeling we're wearing the same expressions on our faces. Thanks for the giggles!

Glad to see someone's keeping an eye on the beer-drinking shelf builder in Crazytown.
Soba - learn to dial 911 just in case she gets all crazy with the power tools and cabernet.
