And the Oscar goes to...
The award for Best Cat in a Supporting Role, male, goes to Bob for his moving performance in "My Left Paw."

. . . . . . . .
The Oscar for Best Female Cat in a Supporting Role goes to Frankie, for her portrayal of the great Detective Franklin Cluesoe in "The Mystery of the White Sabretoothed Cat" (white sabretoothed cat played by Roy in a cameo appearance.)

. . . . . . . .
Best Male Cat in a Leading Role goes to Roy for his heartbreaking portrayal of a cat impaled by evil in this year's remake of "Close Encounters of the Soba Kind."

. . . . . . . .
And of course, in the most anticipated win of the year, Best Female Cat in a Leading Role goes to one Sobakowa for her awe-inspiring takeover of the entire planet in "I'm Gonna Get You Sucker!"

"I really am going to get you. Suckers."

. . . and the Oscar for "best cinematography" goes to Laurie. ; )
Posted by: Colleen at March 6, 2006 09:04 AM
Of course I'm not surprised that your kitties would be Oscar winners! They certainly exude that certain "je ne sais quoi" (4 years of French, and this is all I remember).
Posted by: Susannah at March 6, 2006 09:05 AM
HUGE round of applause for the talented cats. Roy is so dramatic.
Posted by: psychomom at March 6, 2006 09:06 AM
Yes, that Roy is such a little drama queen. You should see him trying to spit up his medicine. Priceless.
Posted by: laurie at March 6, 2006 09:09 AM
:-)
You have to know that we were just going to EAT UP all your cat pics!
Frankie looks especially glamorous!
Posted by: Shelly at March 6, 2006 09:13 AM
awww! Such cute babies!
A tortie has taken up residence on my front porch. She looks like she may have recently had some kitties so I've been feeding her, but she isnt letting me follow her to find out where any babies might be. Any tips on gaining her trust? Shes REALLY skittish.

Gotta love the kitty pics!
"My Left Paw" is my favorite :)
Posted by: Lori at March 6, 2006 09:19 AM
Brilliant photos! I like your Oscars better than the "real" ones.

Posted by: robinv at March 6, 2006 09:25 AM
Ahhh, I really needed that today. Thanks for the kittyliciousness!
Posted by: Pyewacket at March 6, 2006 09:26 AM
:) Totally better than the "real" Oscars. I don't have to watch CBS repeats to avoid the kitties.
{{Snicker}} My Left Paw. Too friggin cute.
Posted by: MonkeyGurrrrl at March 6, 2006 09:29 AM
I watched the oscars last night and I am telling you Laurie..your version is much more entertaining!! :)
Boy they are so pretty...Frankie has the prettiest face.

Moi, j'adore le petit Bob. Tellement mignon...
Posted by: Lucia at March 6, 2006 09:34 AM
My God, those pics are GREAT!
Posted by: Skylar at March 6, 2006 09:34 AM
Did the cats watch the Oscars with you? Boris and Natasha were only interested in the clip from "King Kong."
Posted by: Dagny at March 6, 2006 09:46 AM
Yikes!! That is one giant Bob paw.
Posted by: Debbie at March 6, 2006 09:49 AM
So what was Soba's response when the red carpet folks asked who she was wearing?
Posted by: Lauren in Austin at March 6, 2006 09:53 AM
Okay, this question has consumed me for the past 24 hours. Why is Sobakowa named Sobakowa? She doesn't look like a buckwheat pillow, or any other pillow for that matter! She is very cute...as are the others. And if she controls the weather, really truly, can she send some sunshine over near Pittsburgh?? We're dying in the gloom...
Posted by: Yvonne at March 6, 2006 09:58 AM
My guess is that Sobakowa is really and angel and all of this is just a bunch of slanderous talk!
Posted by: Leah at March 6, 2006 10:07 AM
How come your cat pictures always come out so good? Do you just take a ton of them? Is the lighting in your house magic so you don't have to use the flash and get scary glow-eyed kitties? Do your cats sit still while you photograph?
Posted by: Anne at March 6, 2006 10:10 AM
i want to stick my face in each of their bellies.
Posted by: miss kendra at March 6, 2006 10:11 AM
Are you concerned about the fallout of them wearing fur on the red carpet?
;-)
Posted by: Jill at March 6, 2006 10:15 AM
Yay for Bob - what a stellar performance! (applauds) :)
Posted by: Samantha at March 6, 2006 10:19 AM
The voices in my head told me that you would do something that combined the Oscar's and the cats. The cats were more interesting. I would also like to know how the Soba got her name.
Posted by: Miss Wendy at March 6, 2006 10:20 AM
I would totally be Soba's minion.
But I have to say, Frankie is gorgeous.
Posted by: Laurie Ann at March 6, 2006 10:20 AM
Frankie has such a unusual and beautiful face. I especially enjoyed, "My left paw" ;-)
Posted by: Ariel at March 6, 2006 10:39 AM
I love your kitties! I need one of my own...
Posted by: Tami at March 6, 2006 10:52 AM
That's just too cute!
Posted by: Elemmaciltur at March 6, 2006 10:58 AM
Now that you mention it, Bob does look a little alarmed by his paw. Dr Strangebob!
Posted by: Martigny at March 6, 2006 11:06 AM
Great kittie pictures!!
Posted by: jessica~ at March 6, 2006 11:07 AM
Those cats are Hollywood all the way and you are their Frank Capra. Meanwhile Mr. Ex can languish in summer stock in Peoria.
Posted by: Ann at March 6, 2006 11:44 AM
Goooooooo Frankie!!!
I assume the tshirts will be out soon?
Posted by: Peeve at March 6, 2006 12:54 PM
what a bunch of cuties!! the academy got it right this year...
Posted by: stephE at March 6, 2006 01:28 PM
heheheh... cats gone hollywood!
soba got her name from some late-night drunken informercial watching. But it's a Great name, befitting a Great Ruler. LOL
Cat picture taking: I always have my camera around as ya'll painfully know by now, and I try to catch the cats when they're still enough. When the sun is coming in the bedroom windows, the cats loooove to lie around doing a whole lot of nothing. So the light is good, and they're basically still.
Try to use no flash if possible -- or use the red eye setting on your flash if you need it. But natural light is best. I have a cheap-o Kodak easy cam, so I think you can get shots no matter what quality the camera. Just be patient, annoy the cats to no end, and take tons of images. At least one will be a winner :)

Hee. I love your cat pictures and all the commentary that goes with them: "I really am going to get you. Suckers." So funny.
Posted by: Allyson at March 6, 2006 03:12 PM
Wow, Laurie, I still adore your cats. The picture with Frankie in the foreground and Roy in the distant background is just brilliant. Frankie Goes To Hollywood? My cats send congratulations.
p.s. My cats now have pictures on my blog. Not as good as your pictures!
Posted by: sunflower at March 6, 2006 03:25 PM
I may have to join myspace just so I can become a friend of that Sobakowa! Too funny.

Thank You.

Great blog, I love our honesty and the kitties. You will have to check out Jackson on my blog, i think he may be Bob's twin (Jackson is the evil one though)
