Rhyming never goes out of style.
Today:
One boss hopping mad,
One cat sick, I'm sad.
One ipod broken (again)
and one zit on my skin.
Today:
Technology hating on me,
Nothing new, ya'll will agree.
I can break damn near anything.
Also, I cannot sing.
Today:
Had my headphones on my ears
(not with broken pod, so sad, much tears)
Listening to a little groove,
My boss caught me busting a move.
Today:
I still prefer limericks to poetry
That's how I roll, ghetto me.
Found some place I'd rather be
Paris, at night, 360 degrees!

Ooh la la Paree!!! I'm so happy you'll be there soon. Oftentimes I go to websites that advertise Paris apartments, to pretend that I'm choosing one for myself. Love the fantasy.

Paris is really pretty at night, ya'll will have such a blast!
Posted by: brandee at February 23, 2006 12:33 PM
Christine, I thought I was the ony person who did that! Here's to the dream of Paris....at night and by day. :)
Posted by: Samantha at February 23, 2006 12:36 PM
At least he only caught you busting a move. It could have been something much worse.
:)
Posted by: Micky at February 23, 2006 12:39 PM
I don't rhyme, but I can give you a haiku:
Cheer up Crazy Aunt,
Your humor slays me,
Be at peace, Laurie.
Posted by: Nancy R. at February 23, 2006 12:51 PM
Is the sick cat reference to Roy, or is another member of the posse under the weather? Best wishes either way!
Posted by: Caroline at February 23, 2006 12:54 PM
it's roy-roy the superboy. He's snortling and sneezing and wheezing (rhyme!) the same as usual. I think he is allergic to cats...
Posted by: laurie at February 23, 2006 12:57 PM
Poor Roy. :( What if he's allergic to people?!
Posted by: Chris at February 23, 2006 01:22 PM
Oh, here's love from my Purrsis to Roy (((meow, baby)) Hope he gets better.
Wait, are you taking the cats with you? Who's gonna take care of the brats while you're in Gay Paree?

Make sure you go to the photographers site and see all of his photos. These pictures are wonderful and you will feel like you are standing right in Paris or another beautiful French city. My husband and I found this site about a month ago and spent over an hour dreaming about Paris and remembering our honeymoon there. I am jealous and happy for you at the same time.

Funny, just before I checked for today's post I had this little ditty going through my head:
There once was a young lady named Harriet
Who loved to be wooed in a chariot
Then along came ten tailors
And a boat full of sailors
And Harriets charriot no longer could carry it!
Posted by: Imaginarymaggie at February 23, 2006 01:45 PM
LOVE me some rhymes. I used to say "damn the man" aLOT, mostly because it's fun to say. Alliteration: also my friend.
Also...
Get well soon,
My dear sweet Roy.
No one called you a goon,
Just a nice boy.
Totally missed my calling with the poetry. ;)
Posted by: Christine at February 23, 2006 01:49 PM
Heehee. I like your rhymes. And everyone knows cats are tone deaf anyway.
There was a young lady named Laurie
Who had occasion to say she was sorry
She was busting a move
When the boss ruined her groove
And for her sanity proceeded to worry
Posted by: Peeve at February 23, 2006 01:59 PM
Damn, ya'll are talented!!
Posted by: laurie at February 23, 2006 02:37 PM
I wish I had talent- but I dont rhyme, particularly not right before bed.
But that picture: oooh that is pretty!
and kind of scary as I can tell from where it was taken and identify many things that are not apparent to the naked eye :)
Posted by: stinkerbell at February 23, 2006 02:44 PM
Roy! if you are still puny....do that begging you do for bacon.
Laurie, sometimes cats really know how to fake it. Set up a video camera and you might see him on the couch with the remote, eating junk food all day long. Hopefully he is faking!

I am in tears looking at the Paris 360. Oh, goodness.
I promised Hannah I'd take her - I still need to - I want to take her before she reaches the [Oh, MOTHER] phase. She may be in it already, she's 9 [duh!]
You've given me a kick in the pants. Do you think I could get any Paris teaching gigs?
Posted by: annette at February 23, 2006 03:05 PM
I'm envious of you
and all the things you do
I'd love to see Paris
through eyes of 33
Posted by: annie at February 23, 2006 03:07 PM
I had to teach the wee monkey about limericks without using anything dirty. Do you realize how hard that is?!?!?! I like yours. I may use 'em.
Guess no WeHo SnB tonite again, huh? just as well. I've reached the back of my closet (damned holiday - didn't let me do laundry!), and I'm wearing. . . GAUCHOS!!!!!
Posted by: MonkeyGurrrrl at February 23, 2006 03:11 PM
Lame attempt at poetry.
I once had a dog named Pearl
She was my first little girl
Part wolf, she couldn't bark
So we shared a beer when it got dark
And had a howling good time
Loved that Pearly Girly too.
Posted by: psychomom at February 23, 2006 03:39 PM
Nice rhyme, Laurie. HeWhoMustNotBeNamed is leaving for Paris for 10 days tomorrow...and I'm home alone...and my birthday's next Friday and He's not going to be here. *grrrrrrrr* Not a happy knitter here.
Posted by: Elemmaciltur at February 23, 2006 04:11 PM
I AM SO HAPPY.
Someone here took pity on me and fixed my ipod!!! I love all men who are 22 and technowizards and I plan to buy him a giant bottle of Belvedere. Love love love! I have music! Happy!
Posted by: laurie at February 23, 2006 04:37 PM
you are the more beautiful in the picture. you should have removed one of his front teeth while you were blacking out his eyes. .... or have given him a black eye, fangs and horns or ....
Posted by: mary erdman at February 23, 2006 05:04 PM
I'm glad someone fixed your iPod, but usually if you use the warranty, Apple will replace it with a new generation iPod if your old one gets broken and they don't make your model anymore or have it in stock. At least that's the way it is here in Toronto. See what happens when I delurk? I go comment crazy.

Having a really bad day, that picture of Paris has cheered me up considerably (reading blogs at work? oh no, not me...)
Posted by: Elizabeth at February 23, 2006 06:47 PM
oh will we be bored while you are in Paris...
Posted by: Cheryl at February 23, 2006 06:47 PM
Your blog is so damn funny!! When you're in Paris you should try to go to the 'tricot-paris' knit night, it's every Thursday--you can look it up on Yahoo groups, have a great time and keep writing!

He's gay. And probably on his way to getting fat. And losing his hair. I think exes should all have to live on their own planet. Finding themselves and making each other feel crappy. You deserved better than this. You will find better than this when you feel ready and you want to. Icing on the cake CAP, men are the icing. Not the cake.
Posted by: Kate at February 24, 2006 03:33 AM
THANK YOU! It's so beautiful!!
I'm going to Paris for a few days in May.......I'm soooooooooo excited I can't stand it!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Sue at February 24, 2006 04:38 AM
So glad the iPod got fixed. My kids have to show me how to use my digital camera all the time, cause, I can't read all that tiny type in the booklet. Heh.
Thank you for the Paris picture post. Lovely. I'm inspired to get off my tookus and plan a trip!
Hugs to you and the kitties. And bacon for Roy.

Morning on the 101,
an hour to work, no kind of fun.
Boss is getting on my case,
churn it out, no time to waste.
End of day and heading home,
another hour of freeway roam,
At last I'm there and in the door,
cats left presents on the floor.
No wonder I'm crazy as a loon,
but I'll be relaxed in Paree soon.

Homesick for Paris. (not that I ever really called it home, but I lived there two summers in high school, and vacationed there often). Haven't been back since about 1991. Now I'm jonesing to go. Must. Start. Saving.

Two words:
Ghetto. Fab.
;)
Posted by: Shelby at February 24, 2006 06:09 AM
Others may be way-cute
Others may be way-fine
but if he's got the fix-it gene
baby, he's mine!
I love a man/boy/even an old geezer who can take care of business (of the fixing-things kind...)
Yay for you & your IPOD!
and the Paris pic...I'm so jealous.
Posted by: Reenie at February 24, 2006 07:40 AM
Oh, comme je suis jalouse...
And sending good health to Roy.
Posted by: Anne at February 24, 2006 09:08 AM
Ok, this would actually scan better if your name was Lori instead of Laurie, but hardly anything rhymes with Laurie, so you just hafta work with me here.
There once was a knitter named Laurie
who blogged a really great story.
A cat, name of Roy
is her favorite boy.
Sobakowa, meanwhile, plots glory.
Posted by: DebR at February 24, 2006 09:18 AM
Oh Purl!
That Paris 360 just made my day.
You are wonderful. I can't wait to hear about your trip. What a dream! Paris with your girlfriends!
I want to go back to Paris so badly but the partner seems to think we should go to new places with our holiday dollar. I suppose he has a point.
Ah, Paris. She is like an old lover.

Hey! I can see my house from here...I wish. I, too, browse apartment listings for that one day when I'll be rich enough/brave enough/fluent enough to move there for a year.
Posted by: Laurie Ann at February 24, 2006 06:44 PM
That was a way-cool webpage. Makes me want to go there right now! Or, I'll just wait until the Da Vinci code comes out in theaters....
Posted by: Mary at February 24, 2006 08:22 PM
I thought of you this afternoon at Barnes and Noble. A book of "Red-Neck Haiku." Lots of 17 syllable analyses of beer, trailers, boots, state fairs etc.
Let your twang be cute and attractive. Hope the organic wine lover is available again... you'll get used to flirting. :-)
Posted by: PainterWoman at February 26, 2006 12:30 AM
I totally love your blog, Purl.... keep it up, I thought I was the only person out there who was a crazy cat lover, knitter and o.c.
