Reason #274 Why I Did Not Make My Bed Today

Too cute.
Mine would kill each other before allowing another cat to sleep in THEIR sunspot.
Posted by: Wendy at January 30, 2006 09:58 AM
Hmm, now that I think about it..Soba looks like she's plotting their demise.
Posted by: Wendy at January 30, 2006 09:59 AM
Awwwwwwww! Aren't they the cutest! I always felt bad about leaving my two kitty-babies alone while I'm at work. I'm working from home today. You know what they do all day? The same thing your lovelies are doing. Curl up in a ball and sleep. All freakin' day. I'm sooooooo jealous. Also, soooooo not feeling guilty any more. Someone's got to bring home the Meow Mix, and they're sure not looking to keen on getting jobs.
Posted by: Dewey at January 30, 2006 10:06 AM
So. Freaking. Cute. It looks like the best thing to do with a bed on a Monday morning.
I'm so happy I can get my cat fix here--we're not allowed pets in my building. GrrSnarl.
Posted by: KathyMarie at January 30, 2006 10:06 AM
Oh my gosh HOW CUTE? Now, how did you have the strength to go to work today?
My pets have been very snuggly too lately. Hummm.
Posted by: Mary at January 30, 2006 10:13 AM
Hello? But is that SUNSHINE I see?? HOLY COW!! That is, right?! The sun ... spouting sunshine? WOW!!!!
(you'll have to excuse my excitement. I'm in Portland Oregon and this January is breaking rain records that haven't been broken since the 50s. Portland Oregon ... breaking rain records. You KNOW that's a lot of rain! So yeah, yeah .. the cats are cute ... but bless ya for letting me see that the sun still exists!! I was beginning to have my doubts!)
Posted by: Kat at January 30, 2006 10:14 AM
wow.. your kitties get along so nicely. When I had 2 it was growls and yowls every day.
Posted by: molly at January 30, 2006 10:19 AM
lol...a familiar sight!
Posted by: ck at January 30, 2006 10:23 AM
SO CUTE!!! It must make it awfully hard to get up and out of bed in the morning with the whole clan still asleep :)
BTW. in re: yesterdays post - Learning to date as an adult, when newly single, was a huge thrill for me, and spending my early 30s going out with "whomever I damned please" (what you're 25? sure.. why not), was a hell of a lot of fun.
Enjoy it!
Posted by: Amy at January 30, 2006 10:25 AM
thats soo cool, i wish my kitty liked to cuddle!
Posted by: pixie at January 30, 2006 10:25 AM
They're just like kids; perfect little angels when they are sleeping. But then they wake up and it's "he's in my sunspot," "she took my catnip toy," "Mommy, it's MY TURN to sit in your lap." I know their game.
Posted by: Jenny at January 30, 2006 10:29 AM
Big ol' Awwwwwwwww... I'd have a tough time leaving a pile of cute kitties like that to go to work. Do they usually all congregate in one spot like that? Thanks for the kitty fix.
How is Roy doing these days?
Posted by: Nicole at January 30, 2006 10:29 AM
Your kitties are so sweet!
Psst--have you been to the post office lately??
Helen
Posted by: Helen at January 30, 2006 10:39 AM
Ah, bless. I like how they form a rectangle and how Soba uses Roy as a barrier for protection from the kittens.
Posted by: Martigny at January 30, 2006 10:42 AM
I love the pictures. We've got five cats and if we do not pull the covers up as we are literally getting out of bed, it can often end up staying unmade all day for the same reason. Although ours don't usually get so close to each other unless there is a mutual grooming party (followed shortly thereafter by the 'you bit my tail and now I must smack you repeatedly upside the head' party) going on.
Posted by: Jenipurr at January 30, 2006 10:44 AM
hehehe... they're sweet when they're ASLEEP. And yes, Sobakowa needs a barrier between her royalty self and the lowly cats. Roy is doing better. He's mad, hates medicine, hates the vet, but what can you do. I have not been to the mail lately. Saturday I stayed home until Jen came and got me to take me to Target and Trader Joe's, she braved catching the Bird Flu from me!! Now that is a true friend :)
Posted by: laurie at January 30, 2006 10:47 AM
Reminds me of my own kitty possee. Too cute.
Posted by: Kimberly at January 30, 2006 10:52 AM
I guess I didn't realize that you have 4 cats. Me too! Cats rock.
Posted by: Sonya at January 30, 2006 10:55 AM
OMG I'm in love...they are so adorable! I wish my 3 would get along enough to snuggle on the bed - if by some miracle they are on the same bed they are all in different corners.
Posted by: Marie at January 30, 2006 10:59 AM
That is one of the cutest cat pics ever. Really. My Tiger refuses to share the sunspots with Zoe. Refuses. She doesn't even try anymore.
Posted by: Susan at January 30, 2006 11:02 AM
That's not Reason #274 - it's Reason #s 1,2,3 & 4!
Posted by: Oy Vey at January 30, 2006 11:03 AM
So much kitty love!
Posted by: Imbrium at January 30, 2006 11:03 AM
Awwwww....
Posted by: Chris at January 30, 2006 11:04 AM
That is so cute I got a little choked up. I have been known to just pull the covers and sheets up over the sleeping cats and let the bed have a tumor until they crawl out. I only have two cats, though. And they won't shank me in my sleep like Soba might.
Posted by: annie at January 30, 2006 11:08 AM
Well, obviously. Who can possibly compete with the sunny parallelogram of supreme furdom?
Posted by: Eklectika! at January 30, 2006 11:13 AM
Who needs a reason? But, damn, I love that picture! They are too sweet when they're sleepy - just like kids. It's when they wake up and open their mouths you wanna slap 'em...
Ooops, did I say that?
Posted by: Sandy at January 30, 2006 11:13 AM
Awww... so sweet! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one whose bed is covered in cat hair.
Posted by: Carol M at January 30, 2006 11:37 AM
I especially like the photo of Bob cuddling Roy's tail.
Posted by: Lauren in Austin at January 30, 2006 11:41 AM
:) I would just call in sick to work and snuggleuppagus with the kids all day. You're a stronger man than I. . .
Posted by: MonkeyGurrrrl at January 30, 2006 11:42 AM
Looks like a Kitty Pi...
Posted by: ~drew emborsky~ at January 30, 2006 11:44 AM
NICE four-cat pileup!
Posted by: li at January 30, 2006 11:47 AM
The cuteness! It burns!! I have on occasion woken up with my three strategically arranged around me so that I can't actually get out of bed without their cooperation.
P.S - The look on Bob's face reminds me of my Dorian....
Posted by: Kellie N at January 30, 2006 11:48 AM
oh how darling they are!
Posted by: Cheryl at January 30, 2006 12:02 PM
Best phrase of the day by Eklectica: "Sunny parallelogram of supreme furdom!" Made me laugh snortilly! Thank you kindly!
Posted by: mctwin at January 30, 2006 12:53 PM
this hurt me in my cuteness filtration places.
Posted by: miss kendra at January 30, 2006 01:00 PM
Alright! Another Frankie picture.
I live in Portland Oregon also and I'm expecting to hear when we're supposed to go load up the ark.
Posted by: kathleen2 at January 30, 2006 01:01 PM
Awwwwww....how cute!!!!!!
Guess what, I couldn't resist anymore....I've got myself two skeins of Noro Silk Garden and am knitting myself a basketweave scarf!!!!!
Posted by: Elemmaciltur at January 30, 2006 01:03 PM
Best reason for an unmade bed I ever saw :)
Posted by: Leslie at January 30, 2006 01:12 PM
what an adorable bunch of warm lazy cats. They have the right idea for a Monday morning. I have just one cat and he takes up half the bed as it is.
Posted by: stephanie at January 30, 2006 01:26 PM
I never make my bed.
Posted by: Celia at January 30, 2006 01:34 PM
Too cute. And a great excuse not to have to make your bed.
Posted by: Melissa at January 30, 2006 01:46 PM
Oh my gosh, they are all touching each other. How cute are they!
Posted by: Debbie at January 30, 2006 01:52 PM
I wouldn't make my bed either in this case!
Posted by: Coops at January 30, 2006 01:55 PM
I am a cat lover, and sigh, just have one, but I too was struck more by the sun. I live in Eugene (hi to the PDX folks) and right now am blinded by the crazy white light from the sky, although moments ago we had hail. And moments from now, we'll probably have it again.
I think my cat needs a friend so we can all snuggle on the bed together and avoid work.
Posted by: Tina at January 30, 2006 02:39 PM
Your cats are lovely! I love the way that they have made the bed their very own.
Posted by: mrspao at January 30, 2006 02:41 PM
Bear with me now -- it's a "menage a quatre"! (sorry, I don't do accent marks).
Posted by: Stella in NYC at January 30, 2006 02:47 PM
That's why I didn't make my bed today too. No REALLY. Of course, I only had one kitty on the bed, but hey I didn't want to disturb her.
Posted by: Joyce at January 30, 2006 02:50 PM
That's so adorable. Roy seems to be the center that the rest all gravitate around. My two seem to need at least a foot of space between them at all times.
Posted by: Debbie at January 30, 2006 02:55 PM
That is why I don't have cats (aside from the serious allergies that is). Cats are like the crack of the animal world. I could never stop at just four. And you know where that would lead. You would undoubtedly see me in a housecoat and slippers yelling at some Animal Cop on one of those Animal Planet shows. ;)
Posted by: stephanie at January 30, 2006 03:04 PM
That is so freaking adorable. I wouldn't make my bed either under those circumstances. But I do under most. How can you get into an unmade bed? Practice? lol.
Posted by: Carrie K at January 30, 2006 04:18 PM
That bed's not made??? It looks like it is made to me -- made just right for those fur people.
Posted by: Donna in Virginia at January 30, 2006 04:36 PM
When I had three cats I would have to move very slowly out of bed so I wouldn't disturb the cats that were sleeping on top of me. One of them would sleep under the covers next to me. When I split with my husband, (he left me, two kids, three cats and a pile of bills... eventually I moved out of the house because I could't afford it and he moved back in) the cat that he allowed to stay freaked when she couldn't find me and ran away. He got rid of the other two. I am not sure I will ever forgive the ex for that. I miss my kitties more than him.
Posted by: Pamela at January 30, 2006 04:55 PM
Awwwww, so cute! Makes me want my own kitties. :)
Posted by: Samantha at January 30, 2006 05:06 PM
OMG, they're even cuter all together!!
Posted by: Norah at January 30, 2006 05:31 PM
Awwww... They are so precious together.
Posted by: Pam at January 30, 2006 05:55 PM
I think I am no longer going to refer to you as Laurie, Purl or Wool-Freak.
Instead, I think I am going to go with Julie. The original catwoman.
Posted by: dan at January 30, 2006 06:22 PM
Hmmmm - - funny, that's the same reason I can't make MY bed most mornings - - my 2 furbabies curl up and take over! :-)
Thanks for sharing - - they are precious!
Posted by: Dizzy Ms. Lizzy at January 30, 2006 06:22 PM
Simon meows at me in the morning until I get up - if I don't get up then (like, because it's a weekend -- Simon says, what's a weekend?), he starts knocking things of the bedside table. So eventually I get out of bed, and he immediately lays down exactly where I was. I used to think he was worried I'd be late for work, but apparently he's late for his nap.....
Posted by: janna at January 30, 2006 06:46 PM
You might just consider, in this year of our lord 2006, asking a guy out, instead of waiting for one to ask you out?
just a suggestion....
Posted by: bobbi at January 30, 2006 07:54 PM
Actually, is that a may-an under those cats?
Posted by: miz prissy at January 30, 2006 08:12 PM
I have four cats also but they don't really like to be in the same room as each other, one hisses at the cute fluffy one (understandably of course), the boy pounces on any other cat who walks past him, and the oldest one doesn't know what day it is, forgets that she's just been let out and comes back in again, sleeps in the rain etc, poor girl. I wish they'd learn to get along, you are lucky to have such friendly cats.
(My husband left me too, but we live in the same house because of our daughter and our cats, we couldn't split the cats up)
Posted by: Tigers at January 30, 2006 10:53 PM
If I had that going on at home, it would be reason #274 for me NOT TO GET OUT OF bed in the morning. zzzzzzzz
Posted by: Jennifer at January 30, 2006 11:28 PM
well, being so far down the old comment list, i dont expect you'll see this Laurie, but i hope you do.
if you think you have a lot of cats, check out these people

I love it! Who needs Mr. X when you've got that posse? The picture of Bob is priceless.
Posted by: Kari at January 31, 2006 08:14 AM
Just disgusting. ALL OF YOU LISTEN UP! GET JOBS RIGHT NOW! Lazy buggers...mutter, mutter...mooching fur puddles of cute...
I've had a similar phenomena occur here and it makes it nearly impossible to 1) get out of and 2) stay out of bed. Just cruel.
Posted by: spaazlicious at January 31, 2006 09:02 AM
I only have the two kittens. They have gotten quite used to my current job situation as have I. We spend hours just lounging around which reminds me...
Posted by: Dagny at January 31, 2006 09:24 AM
Stella in NY? Sorry dear, but it's spelled manage a catre!(sorry, couldn't help it!)
Posted by: Leslie at January 31, 2006 10:17 AM
"It's rainin' Cats, hallelujah ...."
Posted by: Hurricane Chase at January 31, 2006 11:40 AM
I was thinking more like "we have joy, we have fun, we have kitties in the sun", sung to the tune of "Seasons in the Sun".
And was it just me, or am I the only one who wanted to rotate the first picture to get a better look at Soba's face?
*crickets*
Ok, then.
Posted by: Dusa at January 31, 2006 02:20 PM
Such sweeties...
And that look in the eye...""What's this? Oh yes, someone is definitely holding my tail! They shall be killed!"
I can usually only get two at a time, but did get three cats ONCE, New Years Day. They were hungover...
Posted by: Shelly at January 31, 2006 02:45 PM
Oh so cute! I LOVE how all your kitties are friends! It's a miracle you got out of bed.
My male cat doesn't tolerate female cats, and the last male cat companion he had tended to dominate him, so he's a spoiled single cat now.
Posted by: Stella at January 31, 2006 04:34 PM
Is that also your excuse for no new post today?! :)
Posted by: MonkeyGurrrrl at January 31, 2006 05:53 PM
Leslie -- say it out loud -- I was trying to avoid a pun which was even more egregious than puns are to begin with :-)
Posted by: Stella in NYC at January 31, 2006 06:29 PM
I've actually made my bed around my cats. Entire bed will be made except for the one corner the cats are on. Really how can you make them move? After all they only get 20 hrs of sleep in a 24 hr day.
Posted by: Diane at February 1, 2006 05:31 AM
The cats are too cute! Makes me want to go back to bed. Regarding all the germs, get some anti-bacterial handwash. I carry a small bottle in my purse and have a full size bottle in my car. Helps get rid of the yucky germs.
Posted by: Erica at February 1, 2006 09:17 AM
So precious that each one has just a little bit of the sun spot to share!
Posted by: Miss Mantoan at February 1, 2006 09:40 AM
It's a furry puddle of joy! Roy makes a good Soba guard.
Posted by: jen at February 1, 2006 10:21 AM
ahem...cute pics, but i'm dying for a new post! help a sister out!
Posted by: bess at February 1, 2006 11:39 AM
I second that, Bess.
Posted by: Nancy R. at February 1, 2006 11:57 AM
I'm betting she needs time to divine our Hor-o-scopes for February...
Posted by: Terri at February 1, 2006 12:27 PM
you're probably right Tess
Posted by: bess at February 1, 2006 12:45 PM
Oh, man. I hope they're LUNAR horrorscopes, y'know, based on the Chinese new year!! That would be so totally coooooool!!!! (hint, hint)
Posted by: MonkeyGurrrrl at February 1, 2006 02:01 PM
You think Purlie Gurl is ok and just getting our horrorscopes together? I'll check back tomorrow :)
Stella, I know, believe me, but those who don't know the pronounciation will get the spelling too (I guess between the two of us we got it all covered, huh? :->)

It's February! I need my Hor-o-Scopes woman! There's no time for bed making or kitty cuteness. I have to know what the month will hold for me! How will I function without my fortune being told? (Answer: I won't function. Must have Hor-o-Scopes!)
Posted by: Tracey at February 1, 2006 08:13 PM
Very sweet kitties. If I didnt have four children I would have four cats.

I never make my bed. OK, I only make my bed when I change the sheets and if non-family non-close-friends are coming over.
And if I had sun beams to sleep in all day (and disposable wealth) I would never even leave my bed. Here's a nice day-dream: Lay in bed all day with kitties in sun beams knitting hats and Bobbi Bears. I'm just sayin'.
