Just some cuteness to offset the ugliness.

If you can help ... there's the Red Cross, and the Hurricane Katrina Animal Rescue. Be well. Hug your cats and your people.

omigod how do you get them to make such great faces!? They should be in movies.

Posted by: gaile at August 30, 2005 09:32 AM

Fabu pics of Roy and Bob. They obviously are genius cats.

Thanks for your posts about the hurricane. I and my friends have been lucky that no family or friends we have down there are hurt or worse.

Sending good wishes to everyone affected by this crazy weather.

(Sweet! I'm first!! Tee hee!)

...or not! Damn the slowness of my server here at Work.

Posted by: taral at August 30, 2005 09:34 AM

I stumbled across your blog the other day and after reading all of your archieves I'm caught up at last and have completely enjoyed your great sense of humor and fun-loving nature. Just sticking my foot in the door to say hello today.

Posted by: katie at August 30, 2005 09:39 AM

Thank you for your light hearted pictures. I adore your cats.

Posted by: Leanne at August 30, 2005 09:59 AM

Great pics! I love when you post cat pictures with little captions. So funny :)

I thought of you when I was reading an article about the people that stayed at the Superdome. Did it strike you (or anyone reading this, for that matter) as plain wrong that they weren't allowing pets inside? I mean, yeah, it would've been weird but what about those pets? How many of the ones left behind even survived? It makes me sad and a little bit angry.

Posted by: Rhonda at August 30, 2005 10:19 AM

dammit i need a freaking cat.

or atleast a dog that doesn't pee on my BRAND NEW COWIE CHAIR.

nope. i need a cat. only a cat will do.

Posted by: kendra at August 30, 2005 10:20 AM

Rhonda! Me too! I'm so upset about all this, I saw a picture of a dog on a rooftop of a flooded house and I just burst into tears.

Posted by: laurie at August 30, 2005 10:23 AM

Sadly most places(even here in FL) do not allow animals for health reasons. There are very few shelters that you can take pets to. When planning for Hurricanes most people just don't think to make plans for their pets too.

ohmigosh, Roy's face in pic #3 is SOOO freakin' hilarious!!! Only you would have cats that have such funny faces! Pics of the Paris Loop coming soon - it won't look AT ALL like the pattern cuz I hate garter stitch...also must update my blog with a pic of the ADORABLE scarf I made out of Rowan Big Wool Tuft - L-O-V-E Tuft. XO Stalker

Posted by: marissa at August 30, 2005 10:47 AM

hilarious - love their comments. what program do you use to do that (the text).

Posted by: donni at August 30, 2005 10:47 AM

donni -- I use photoshop. and thank you!

Posted by: laurie at August 30, 2005 10:49 AM

That good grief photo of Roy is beyond priceless! What a great face!

Posted by: LisaB at August 30, 2005 11:08 AM

I REALLY have to remember not to read your blog at work. I laughed out loud just as my boss was passing and she gave me that extra-special look that says "what IS your problem, and why are you happy at work?". but it was SO worth it.

-hit up Red Cross and Humane Society of America this am with donations. Every little bit helps

Posted by: knittykim at August 30, 2005 11:21 AM

Too funny! I think Roy is my favorite!

Posted by: Miss Mantoan at August 30, 2005 11:36 AM

I think we need to start a Roy Fan Club...

Posted by: Shelly at August 30, 2005 12:07 PM

Roy is the cutest! so I'm biased by snaggletoothed siamese...sue me.

I blogged about hurricanes today. The stalking only caused me to keep moving for several weeks, but I've given up running and come home ;p

Posted by: IngridH at August 30, 2005 12:32 PM

Petco is taking donations as well.

I can't think of a better reason to have more than one cat than your photo montages. Endless entertainment.

I would freak. the hell. OUT. if I couldn't make sure my cat was OK in the face of a natural disaster.

Since you are a self-professed weather geek, I hope you know about NOAA's website. There is some really cool stuff on it. The website is www.noaa.gov. Also, the US Geological Survey has a really amazing collection of satellite images of earth, derived from their Landsat satellites. That website is landsat.usgs.gov/gallery/main.

And yes, I am worried about all the critters too. I will be saying a prayer to the Cat Goddess tonight, and making donations to the SPCA etc. Dogs and cats are one thing, but can you imagine trying to evacuate your horse?

How happy I always am to see a CrazyAuntPurl update....

You have the same cat tree as I do! Did you get yours at Big Lots like this hick did?

Posted by: Christina at August 30, 2005 02:03 PM

Christina! I ordered mine online... does yours go from floor to ceiling too?? Mine is a cat fiesta, if I had known they had them at Big Lots I would have bought it there! I love Big Lots. I love me a bargain! LOL

Posted by: laurie at August 30, 2005 02:38 PM

thanks, laurie. i have paint shop pro. i finally figured out how to add text to the photo, but i don't know how to put text on a white background. :-/

Posted by: donni at August 30, 2005 06:10 PM

we donated to another group - thanks for reminding us...
those poor little fuzzy animals it makes us cry

Posted by: minou at August 30, 2005 08:45 PM

Your comment about bursting into tears at the sight of a dog stranded on a roof inspired me to donate to Hurrricane Katrina Animal Rescue. It would never have occurred to me, a non-pet-owner, to do so. You're making the world a better place!

Thank you so much for the cuteness. I REALLY REALLY REALLY needed it, and I knew just where to find it. I've had to stop watching the news; and looking at your cats made me feel better. THANK YOU!

Posted by: Tracey at August 31, 2005 08:00 AM

Your cats are so dang cute!! (And um, what the heck camera do you have that you don't get one ounce of red-eye??) I do love the tree - but somehow I think if I got one, my cats (Elmo and Elvis) would look at me like "nice try," and jump right up on top of the TV where they can hang a paw or a tail right over the screen just to make sure I know who's boss.

Posted by: Kathy at August 31, 2005 08:30 AM

Kathy -- I have a Kodak easy cam, a point-and-shoot digital camera that was less than $200. I use the red-eye reduction setting for Flash, usually,. but the best pics are always in natural light (no red eye!) and these were taken on a sunny day with no flash.

Plus, my cats are used to being followed around and photographed by their paparazzi (me). LOL

I LOVE BOB THE BEST!!! yes, he is tad bit "special" but he is a sweetie pie of cuteness. I bet he is an excellent snuggle bunny.
